Rojo,
Good to hear, now to change my driver 02 sensor.....sigh. I wonder if my o2 sensor being out would hammer my mileage?

But at least our SVX's can pass smog w/ the ECU in the car.

Well, hurricanes are a simple fact of life here, like skeeterz, humidity and snow birds. What I really meant was this. Growing up in SoCal in the 60's, 70's and part of the 90's, The smog at times was so bad it blocked out the sun. My how things have changed !! Going back last summer and over the New Years this year, I found some simple facts of life different than what we must endure here. There are more roads there, a whole lot easier to get around than before. I could make it from Pinion Hills to LAX in 1.5 hours, which was amazing to me. People don't speed around like they used to. Very few people on cell phones, most people use turn signals, etc. You go into a store and people actually said please and thank you. I could not believe it, cell phone taxes are half what they are here. A nice sirloin at the store in the high desert is half what it is here on sale, my beer is $1.50 cheaper than here for a 12 pk. ! Florida taxes everything and we have virtually nothing to show for it. Last June gas was $.25 a gallon higher there than here, this last January it was $.03 cheaper in Palmdale than here. The main difference is this. Florida ranks #2 in the country for rude and obnoxious drivers. You take your life in your hands every where you go. I hate driving here because it is so stressful. Fully 70% of drivers are yakking on their cell phones, no one uses a turn signal, the right lane is fair game for speeders. They are rude and just don't care. Red lights are merely a suggestion. Waiting in traffic here is a bit different as was the case yesterday. There was an injury accident on I75, so FHP shuts down BOTH north and south lanes for two hours, this happens almost on a daily basis. Since most of our freeways miles are rural, you are basically screwed when it happens as there are no alternatives. This happens more than one would think. We are actually considering moving back to California or Montana. Frankly, I don't know how Florida ranks so low at #2. I cannot imagine it getting any worse.

Sounds probable Steve, but you'd need to talk to someone more "techie" than yours truely. Makes some sense that the ecu would have a failsafe mode with no O2 signal to prevent running too lean. burning things up.

O2 Sensor

I am not the "techie" guy you need but I think you're headed in the right direction. The O2 sensor on my 4 banger was bad and the engine was running v. rich, hence, lousy mileage. I recommend getting that confirned by Beav or one of the other vastly more knowledgable people here.
