I've seen 5, up close and personal.

3 of which came back out due to improper torque or grease.

Sigh.

Sorry, I just tuned in to this thread.

I have two brand new Subaru Rear Wheel Bearings still in their bags. Unfortunalty, I am not at home.

Tonight I will check them over for numbers and compare them with what is already listed in this thread.

Thanks a million VK, The number you have posted appears to be a manufacture's number and I hope will cross reference. Will let you know how I get on and pass on any references I obtain as they could be of help to others.

I am just learnjing my way around this site and had no luck when I tried the archives. Again thanks all, I am off for another swim. Trevor.

I have Bearing Part Numbers

OK, Here it is:

There are 3 stampings on the bearing spaced equally apart.

JAPAN CL

NTN

4T-CRI-08A02

BTW: This roller bearing is Subaru part # 28016PA010 made 2/11/00 in the good ole USA (I thought that was odd).

Special thanks Doug,

I see that your car has completed 213k Miles which gives me a lot of confidence and makes me even surer that the SVX is not such a Lemon as it is painted. What has had to be overhauled other than expected routine items ? You must be rated in the maximum experience category !

Actually I am starting to wonder if I am listening to tyre ( tire ) noise, the car is so quiet that anything at all becomes intrusive. If it is bearings or a bearing it is a " just through the hardenig sing " rather than a " bad news growl " if you get my drift. A bit like trying to describe the taste of a special wine. Any one like to generate a noise on site ? !

Also thanks again to you VK. The numbers you came up with confirm those from Doug so that I doubly sure that I have " the real oil " and I am sure I will have no problems locating the correct items thanks to you all.

Trevor.

About 213,800 as of this afternoon.

I have done very little to the car. I first changed the timing belt, soark plugs, and water pump at 212,000. Aside from the eleven transmission rebuilds, she's been a trooper.

Rear Wheel Bearing No.

Hi again Doug,

I can not believe eleven transmission rebuilds and niether can a friend who is in the transmission business. Auto Subarus and in particular the turbo models do not have a good name here but the specialists have them sorted and would hang their heads in shame at such a record in respect of rebuilds. His comment " there is no way they can be doing a good job and must only throw in parts without diagnosing and fixing the faults." When he rebuilds he knows it is better than new because small mods go a long way to ensure the original problem is less likely to return.

I have had a external cooler installed at a very reasonable price and everything is as good as original manf. and is hard to detect as an add on. What is more they will not fit an external filter based on experience and often remove them from later models which have them. They are able to explain their reasons backed up with results and experience and I agree with their logic. He tells me most Taxis ( all makes ) have a cooler fitted as a matter of course to cope with stop start city running and he stresses with all his customers to hold third in traffic and at city speeds, which is of course vital with the SVX as many posts have tried to explain.

Trevor.
