Actually the system is dual PIII-450s with 6 hard drives, a floppy, CD rom, and a full length RAID card. Its six IBM 7200 rpm 4 gig drives running RAID 5 (five drives plus a hot spare) I guess I overbuilt the machine (minus redundant power supplys) but I dont build wimpy servers.

Wow. How generous. I appreciate it and I am VERY SURE that everyone else here does as well. Let me say that if I had a job right now, this would only be trivial and I would just go out and buy another one. Wish me luck in the morning, I have an interview with Hewlett Packard!

I think we are at a point that the next official position needs to be filled. Treasurer. Anyone up for the task? Whether or not we get to a point of dues we should have someone in this spot BEFORE hand. Also this person can keep track of donations and or purchases if/as nesessary. Just an idea.

As for shipping a power supply here is the address. Again, thanks to ALL who offered to help and to zsvx for his offer on a power supply replacement.

Chris. I wish you all the luck in the world, my friend. I don't know if you're inclined to accept prayers along with wishes of good luck, but, couldn't hurt, right? I'll say one for you -- I'm sure there are others out there who will join me. In fact, tell us what time the interview is, and we'll make sure we're sending them up at that very moment. Again, best of luck.

Hey Chris

Hey Chris,
You said have an interview with HP. Do you mean Agilent? What group? It's a HUGE company, but I have some friends there who might be able to put in a good word.

Let me know, I'll put in some good words if it will help.

... networking....

Go get 'em, Chris!

Good deal on the HP interview. Know that everyone here's pulling for you. And if this one doesn't pan out, we're still sending the best "vibes" your way that we can.

Thanks.. Really

Thanks for all the support guys. I do appreciate it. In honesty the job would be at HP but through a subcontractor calle Adecco. The offical positoin is a tier one or level one server support role. Basic trouble tickets, work orders, and phone support for the 7500+ HP servers world wide. Everything from print servers, NT servers, HPUX, and even some linux server. I think the interview went well (but I thought that about the last one as well) but I wont hear back anything until next week. Will see what god has planned for me.

As for the power supply, I got a PM from ZSVX informing me that he has shipped it priority mail and might be here by Friday. Again thanks goes to ZSVX for his generous donation to our project. Once I have secured employment I will rebuild the SVX server into a rack mount case and spend the extra money for redundant power supplys. Everything else should be covered already.

Again... Thanks for all your support

Dead Server,

Chris & all Fellow SVXers,

Let's start a Server Upkeep Contribution Plan. If everyone gave a little, say $5-$10, or whatever, we could keep this place going. Considering what we spend on our cars, it's not too much to ask. Chris has done a wonderful job. He shouldn't have to support this site financially too. So "come-on" everybody send in those checks.

Larry III
PS: Chris e-mail me with the following info:
Who do I make the check out to and where do I send it.

Larry, considering what we spend on our cars (well, speaking for myself), we should go ahead and start a "Potter's Field" with plots big enough for a body inside an SVX . But seriously (did I say that out loud?), you're right. Chris should not have to bear the expense of making us fanatics happy. We're going to need a treasurer, and I don't think Chris should have to bear the responsibility of keeping up with the books, either. So, I nominate Larry III as our official treasurer for the The Subaru SVX Owner's Network. Do I hear a second?

Treasurer

Sure, I'll second that! As long as I don't have to do it...

Chris has provided us with a great web site for us fanatics to hang out, and we should all chip in where we can, whether in time or money.

I'd glady volunteer my time on anything relating to the hardware or O/S side of the server if need be. (Touching SVX fake plastic wood, hoping Chris will never need my services, not becuase I'm lazy, which I am, but that the server won't go down again)
