First Service

My SVX goes in for its first service next weekend since I bought it. I have found a local garage that until a couple of years ago was a Subaru main dealer. Most of the staff are still there from the Subaru days and they have all the necessary diagnostic tools for our cars. They admit that they are not too clued up on SVXs having only ever had one other in for work over the years.

They are going to give it a 15000 mile service as it had new plugs and a cambelt just before I bought it in April. So it'll get oil and filter, air filter and checks on other fluid levels, brakes, steering etc.

Is there anything else I should ask them to do/check? What sort of info would be handy to help them service the car more effectively? Any hints and tips to help both me and then would be very greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

You might get them to check the torque rating on the wheel nuts; have a look at the bearings; em...check out the transmission mounts (apparently the rear one I think can move around a bit) and also, depending on the year, have a look at the seal around the rear diff where the driveshaft enters - I think it can crack/move around/do something that it is not supposed to do.

Oh, and see if they can lubricate the sunroof mechanism too!

Thanks for the advice JamSVX. I never got the chance to pass your points onto the garage that was going to service my car.......they went bancrupt the day before the service was due!!!

So, now I have to find me another place to do the job.
