Using Legacy bearings: The Final Say?
In regards to swaping SVX bearings (P/N 28016PA010) with Legacy bearings (P/N SCI541005) a la Canada:
After an exhaustive search of the board, I have failed to come across a post in which someone here said, "yes they work, do it" and posted all the exciting details, including part numbers, hints, and pics. Has anyone made the swap yet or called a Canadian dealership and talked with a mechanic that's done it? I'd like to shut the book on this puppy! Curly

has anyone ever swapped svx bearings for impreza bearings
are impreza bearings the same part # as svx bearings if yes to either of these then the legacy bearings will work

I did read somewhere that someone tried to use Forester bearings but they didn't fit. Another question is: do I use the Legacy seals or do I use SVX seals? If I use the Legacy seals, does anyone have the p/n's handy?

Well, I went on ahead and called two dealerships in Canada. Both confirmed that the part number that comes up in their database is the ORIGINAL SVX number. The Legacy number is not given as an alternative (even after logging onto the Subaru corporate database).
Futhermore, one of the parts guys went back to the back and pulled out both the SVX and Legacy bearings and confirmed that they have different outside diameters. Shucks. So now I guess I'll be ordering a bearing from Kragen that carries a 2 year warranty.

Does anyone have any advice/comments/feedback before I go ahead and forget about using Legacy bearings?

Go for it. If they're the same part number, they're the same part. Get some nice legacy bearings, and good luck!
