1995 Brilliand Red SVX L

I'm the new proud owner of this 95 Brilliant Red SVX L, AWD and ABS.
Has 80,000 miles on it and picked it up for $500!

The owner had it at a garage because all the fuses blew while hes was driving. The garage replaced the fuses and started unplugging harnesses. It started back up after the ABS module was unplugged. Then it sat for a while...
It will drive and runs well, but I am going to start with replacing the ABS module, along with the heater controls, and alternator because they were fried.

Other than that it looks pretty good, especially mechanically. It does need new struts, but there is two brand new ones in the trunk (might do Koni insert mod). All bushings look good and no rust, but it does need some new seals and gaskets here and there.

The interior is pretty dirty and is missing the sun visors, but hopefully I can get it cleaned up good.
The outside is decent. Paint is dull and has a few door dings and bumper scuffs, but nothing crazy. The worst of it is a dent along the outer edge of the drivers side fender.

Its going to be my DD and I'm getting rid of the escort (finally). I'm not going to get into a mod frenzy though. I already have one money pit sitting in my driveway haha. But I will get into doing stuff some day I'm sure.

I welcome any tips comments or suggestions, as I am still learning about the SVX!!!

Here's some crappy cell phone pics for now. Ill get some better ones after I get it home and cleaned up.

The mileage is a bit high at Eight hundred thousand miles, but @ $500, you can't kick about the price!

Re: 1995 Brilliand Red SVX L

I think that would be 80,000and 0 1/10s. the comma like the decimal point is the boss. 1.00000000000 is still one thousand and 8,000000000 is still 8,000 now 8,000,000,000 that is another story .

Re: 1995 Brilliand Red SVX L

There is no way that car has 800 Thousand miles, so for 80 Thousand you got one heck of deal. Nice find. I thought all 94-95 L models were FWD Best of luck with it, and welcome aboard

The 1994 "L" MODEL WAS FWD and no ABS. The "LS" model was FWD and had ABS and the LSi was AWD and ABS.

BUT

The 1995 "L" model was FWD standard. If you added the optional "Active Safety Group", you got AWD and ABS. Grey cloth, no leather, no sunroof, one-piece fold down rear seat.

Try and score an ABS module from someone here on the network. They are $1500 new from Subaru. Just post your needs in the wanted or For Sale Forum, under SVX Parts Wanted. Click HERE

Climate Control module is easy to come by as well.

The best source for your alternator is Maniac Electric Motors. Click HERE. Less than $90.00 after you return your old core. Free shipping and a 2-year warranty.

Take your time, ask all the questions you have and use the search button frequently. Welcome to the family.

I have been to Bangor, Bar harbor, Deer Isle/ Stonington in the winter (but only in our Outback) Driving the SVX in a Maine winter has to be a blast!

If any country was Subaru country, Maine has to be it!!

Re: 1995 Brilliand Red SVX L

Thanks for all the comments guys! And yes I had one to many zero's , the mileage is 80,000.
Exactly right too. It was the safty awd abs option.

I will deff pick up used parts from the forum. There is a guy who has a parts car with no motor here in maine too.

Thanks for the link svxcess. That is deff the cheapest I have found.
I have although found a 110 alternator that bouch makes on one website for $115 shipped. I have to call on monday to see if they still have them available.
Do you think the 110 would be worth it?

Maine is definitely fun in the winter with awd!

Sort of like creating... or saving 8,000,000,000 jobs?

Re: 1995 Brilliand Red SVX L

I have never seen a front wheel drive 1995 L. I believe that all of them were fitted with the "Active Safety Group". I'm aware that the promotional material says it's an option, but I think they all came with that option.
