There is a minimum headlight height (21" for the US I think) but there are no limits on height except that they cannot be placed above the windshield level (roof or roll bar lights are only legal off-road)

There were some proposed regulations a few years back that would give an allowed range of (from memory) about 20" to 32". It was dropped and never made it up to a vote. Why, I don't know.

Have you ever noticed that most semi-truck headlamps are lower than a lot of pickup and SUV lights? I think light truck makers are basing it on style instead of social responsibility. I figure if low semi lights are good for cross country drivers, they should be good for soccer moms as well.

On some American muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, they used to hide the gas filler behind the rear license plate. I was at a custom car show where I saw a custom 1974 GTO that had the fuel filler relocated to inside the trunk

But where the fuel filler used to be (behind the license plate), the guy had fitted a large, rectangular off-road driving light. He used this a a backup light; the license plate would drop down whenever he put the car into reverse.

He said he could also control it manually for those times when someone came up behing him with his brights on...

I've always wanted something like that! I wonder if he would do my subaru. I'm guessing the wiring harness is a little more complicated so it may not work so well for me. Maybe i'll try it out on my '71 dodge once its finished (not that i intend to take it out of the street after its tubbed!)

My car is tinted to the maximum the law allows and the window design is still VERY noticeable.

I was driving at night once and was getting beamed by some jerk in an suv. I flashed him back as he passed. Next thing I know theres a HUUGE bright glare in my mirrors. I look back...to my suprise...the (very not nice person) had a bajillion candlepower spotlight rigged up and ready for attack! Gah! Blinded twice. What an (Very not nice person)

Mabey try a little bit of window tint on the mirrors. nothing too dark, just enough to take the edge off a bit

I think our cars are just lower than most cars and easily to get blinded from trucks and SUVs. When I get blinded, I just move my head position in the car ... and try to stay away from those higher vehicles on the roads.

i have the autodimming mirror in the LGT and it works good for the glare, but the downside is you can't see if the car behind you is a cop ..... not that i'd need to worry about that.

I got it!

Electrochomatic windows on the entire car! http://www.switchlite.com/home.html

They can be made in any level tint and a rainbow of tint colors!
Should only cost $100,000 to have them custom made for the SVX.

Place your orders now!

I'm thinking getting 100% tint with a 0% - 100% variable control.

What would the cops do then when they pull you over???
