Talking Blue Moon and the Seven Sisters

I was listening to NPR this morning on my way to work. They said that tonight will be the first Blue Moon in 47 years, but it won't be blue! supposedly it will be a bright orange, similar to a Jack-o-lantern.

How does this pertain to the SVX? They followed the information up with; The Seven Sisters constellation will be easily viewable above the moon tonight. I though some of the Subie fans here might be interested in a little star gazing tonight.

Happy Halloween!

Seth

Thanks, Seth. I'll make sure to set the camera up tonight.

Hmmm. I'm sure we had a blue moon not too long ago.
I heard that it was the first full moon on Hallowe'en in 47 years. You're right about the Pleiades, though.

Star (planet) gazing

Check out the morning sky in the east. Venus and I'd guess Mars are right next to each other just before the sun comes up. It's a wonderful sight.

The visibility towards the sky in this car is wonderful.

Definitely made for pilots.

True enough, but it also a blue moon, being it's the second one this month. Next full moon on Halloween is in 2020, according to NPR.

That was just Papa Smurf having a little fun by pressing his butt cheeks against a side window in his car.

Spaced out...

Gee, it's great to see so many of our members are "looking up" these days! Our little badges on the cars must rub off on us somehow. I believe we are in for a spectacular meteor shower later this month; I hope the weather will be good for observing.
Don

PS Here is a chart to show you where to look on the night of the 17th.

Sheesh, I sure hope so. I've got the Japanese emblem on my car. You know, the "horny" one. Did anybody notice on one of the Japanese sites, the fellow had replaced his Alcyone emblem with the "Stars" emblem? Go figger.
