front control arm and sway bar bushings

i did my front struts yesterday and went to get an alignment dont but unfortunately they couldn't do it because they said the control arm bushings were shot on the front. so now instead of having money for a windshield from nate....i now need these bushings or the whole control arms...anyone have any for cheap or know where i can get some these are all i want no more.

thanks, Jared *sigh*

Re: front control arm and sway bar bushings

Poly Control arm bushings can be picked up relatively cheap new I believe. (aftermarket of course)

I think I have some control arms in good shape, but have no idea if they made it out here to PA yet, or if they're in WI or Illinois. Having parts scattered can suck at times.

What you want are called:

Subaru SVX, Front Wishbone Front Bush

Subaru SVX, Front Wishbone Rear Bush

2 of each and I recommend the yellow ones.

Changing them is a pain in the ass... A shop press should be able to handle getting the old ones out. New ones slide right in. Grease the crap out of them (they come with grease).

The yellows are stiffer than the reds - that doesn't mean they will feel stiff in a bad way. That's not the purpose of these bushings. They will actually make the steering feel more predictable and consistent. "Tighter." I wouldn't say that they made it feel stiff. Also someone before said that the reds felt even softer than the stock bushings. Softer is bad, firmer is good. Go with the yellows.

As for coming from Poland... Just be happy you can get them at all. The only alternative is new OEM control arms, which ain't cheap and is a sad reason to replace control arms.
