Tire Dressing

.
For over 20 years my tire dressing of choice was Kar-Kraft Quik-Blue Tire Dressing. Gave the concours and show cars the winning edge when the only product out there at the time was Armour-All.

It was replaced by Kar-Kraft Super Blue Tire Dressing and was far superior in every way to anything out there; nothing even came close. It was taken off the market about 5 years ago brcause it did not meet the VOC standards imposed by the EPA. Shops that were stocking up on this stuff had the definite advantage.

One of the great restoration and detail shops shops informed me that it was finally back on the market. The same quality, but reformulated to be VOC Compliant.

Already have some on order.

Re: Tire Dressing

Thanks for sharing John. I'll have to try some of that when my current product from Meguiar's runs out.

Re: Tire Dressing

I rarely touch any of the silicone and oil based dressings because they are horrible for the enviroment, not great for the tires and don't really clean, just shine. Best solution for daily use that has been around forever and actually cleans the tires is to clean your tires and wheels good with the left over car wash water. Use a cup of vinegar with a couple of table spoons of lime juice in it and a stiff brush to do a second cleaning, wash it off. Take a can of cola and sponge it on, let it dry. Lasts longer than the oil based dressings, looks natural not shiney like the silicone cleaners. Your driveway or garage floor will love ya for it.

Re: Tire Dressing

I've never been a fan of the "wet look" on my tires. My favourite was Eagle One Satin Finish but it's not made anymore.

I currently am spraying on ArmorAll Tire Foam because I'm lazy.

Re: Tire Dressing

I think it is all a waste of time and money. I let my tires go au naturel.

Re: Tire Dressing

.

I am not a fan of the wet, patent leather doughnut look either. I like the matte (not flat) finish that comes as a new tire, with just a hint of sheen.

After my other products were discontinued, I have been using this and was quite impressed. Check the reviews online

Black Magic Titanium Matte Tire Dressing

Used to be called Black Magic Natural Finish Protectant

Not widely available as in the past. I find it at Pep Boys and Big Lots sometimes. Works quite well, no gloss, doesn't sling or attract dust.

Re: Tire Dressing

I use a product called Well-Worth Super Blue. I get it from a local professional detailing chemical supply place, and I've been using it for years. I absolutely love it!

Re: Tire Dressing

Why bother putting on nice wheels, if your not going to dress up the tire. Kind of like the old days when people drove around with brown white walls.
