walmart oil & filters

A while back I remember a thread on oil and oil filters and a few folks spoke of using Walmart brands.

Disclaimers:
1. My wife is a Walmart employee, so....
2. I use Mobil 1 10W-30 & the Walmart SuperTech filter.

Don't know who makes Walmart conventional dino oil. The Walmart SuperTech synthetic oil is repackaged Quaker State, not as good as Mobil 1 (IMHO), especially since they started carrying 5Qt jugs of M1 for $17.88. Please note, not trying to start a Redline vs Amsoil, vs M1, vs...thread here. However, if you're a Quaker State fan...

Their filter is made by Champion, and that is a pretty good recommendation. Hard to pin Champion down, but it may be the same as the Bosch filter. Mobil 1's filter is also by Champion, but uses a different filter material (a synthetic cellulose I think).

Champ filters are made just down the road from here. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they make Bosch.

I said maybe, maybe not because only the Bosch filters designated for North American use are made by Champion.

If you've been going to an import parts place, Bosch filters could easily be from Europe.

Also, I know Champion has a Mexico factory, so you could still be right about Bosch filters not being made down the road.

Do you know if the SuperTech filters are IL made? Nothing against NAFTA, but I'd prefer salaries from my purchase be paid out to a mid-westerner vice South of the border.

I'll have to check it out. I'll also have to check whether the Champion you're talking about is the same as the Champ that I know. (Champoin Labs. Champ filters. ????)
