Beeping
I am troubleshooting a battery drain problem on my JDM SVX and believe that it maybe related to a beeping sound I intermittantly get in the cabin of my car.
It is a double beep with a pause then repeats. It will beep with the car running or with the key out. The beep changes from short double beeps to long double beeps. Again intermittant have not yet been able to determine any method to start or stop the beeping. Any ideas.

I've never heard any double beeps in my JDM cars. Could it be some aftermarket alarm, radio or accessory? I have an aftermarket radio in one of my cars that beeps to remind you to remove the faceplate.
The only factory beepers I can think of are: stick in reverse beeper drivers door open with key in ignition beeper climate control button pressed beeper drivers outside door handle (coded lock) beeper None of these really sounds like what you are describing. Are all of these systems working normally on your car? Only way I can think of to track it down is pull fuses until it stops. But that doesn't really help as the fuse box diagram is in Japanese.

Great Thanks,
All the functions you describe are working on my car. But my car does have a remote car starter installed. I will look at that

I have narrowed the beeping down to the remote car starter. Laying on back looking up at the steering column I can see starter module. The interesting thing is this appears to be a plug and play system. There only appears to be a couple of wires that are were added other than the harness. One being the antenna and the other ground. You break one connector under the dash (Four Wire Plug) and plug each one into the harness. This then goes to a single connector that breaks out the ground and the then goes to a connector on the remote starter. Starter is by SANVIP. It has a remote with 3 buttons on it. One starts, the other stops and the other Who knows ??. There is a lot of wear on the third button so it must have done something.
Well after disconnecting the remote start I still have a current drawn of 0.218 Amps. If I pull the clock fuse in the engine compartment it drops off to about 11 milliamps.

I would say that 11 MA is normal, considering other possible residual load required to retain memory.

no help here, but just funny
I once had a car brought in after it had seen a few shops for a squeaky noise. It was thought to be a belt slipping type of noise, but what I noticed was that after the car was shut off the noise was still there.
This is just proof that the world is full of freaking stupid people. It was a cricket in the fender!

Re: Beeping/ Battery drain
Again I thought I would upate this thread for completeness. The TCU (Time Control Unit) was the problem. I swapped it for the one on my the 94 parts car and it works perfectly. Battery drain is now 11 milliamps, no problem at all for a battery.
