WHAM!...totalled

Some moron failed to notice me in front of him and tried to drive through me. I was stopped and he hit me at 35 mph without touching his brakes. My exhaust tips are now about 2 inches off the ground. I must admit that I didn't feel very much impact. I just got jolted forward in my seat a little bit. I am very impressed with the safety of this car. I will be retaining the vehicle and most likely buying another black 92. If anyone in the NW needs parts, let me know. I'm also pondering an RX-7 turbo. I have everything but the rear end body parts. I have a Subaru reman tranny with Level 10 valve body(work done by Danny-Bosco9999) with about 5,000 miles on it. The car has 105K and has run (5) 10 lb bottles of N2O. The car drives like normal, but I am sure the damage will exceed the total requirement. Bummer. And to add insult to injury, my truck decided to die on me the day after the accident, so I am now in the market for two vehicles. What fun.

Glad to hear you weren't injured.

Sorry

to hear about your car, but glad you were not hurt. Hope you get another real soon.

This may come across a bit insensitive, but you might consider doing the following. Post up some pics of the wreck in your locker, if it is as you think totalled. It will serve as a good indication to the owners that the cars are safe for the occupants. I was impressed by some photos of crashes when I got on Yahoo first.

Also, if totalled and dismantling, send the car's details to the Registry on the .org site. It will be useful in the future to know of any cars delisted from the original total of imports.

Again, hope I don't sound insensitive, I know the way I whinge about scratches and door dings on mine, let alone a serious crunch..

RX7 Turbo

Nice choice in my book, but are not cheap to keep. I am looking at them so much, I know I will eventually end up with one, particularly if I can't find the Maserati I would like.

They are a good track-style car, and very quick. Just don't make the mistake of driving like you were still in the SVX in the rain. They can about-face quicker than you can blink. Real good car though. And designed in California!!

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

if you decide to part it...

could i perhaps call dibs on your visors? my driver's side snapped at the plastic elbow, so i don't even have one there. ummm...does your security module still work? if it does, i'd probably be interested in that. sorry to hear about the crash, but it's good to know you're ok.

I'll try to answer everyone at once. I appreciate the concern, but not a scratch on me, thank goodness. If I get another SVX then I will keep mine as spare but I part it I would like to get as close to $2000 for it as I can. It cost $3600 minus $500 for installation and $100 for fluid leaves me $3000. I could probably sell it without the Level 10 valvebody for even less. I could sell the whole car for $3000. It is a 92 LS-L touring. It drives like normal and that would provide a spare motor as well as just about everything else. Of course the Focals and Toyos would not be included. I like the RX-7 Turbo II because they can be obtained and made very fast for not much money. But they are a high maintenance car. The third gens are the coolest, but man are they spendy. One could easily make a Turbo II that could bury a third gen. Just a thought. I would like to find another SVX but not much to choose from around here right now. If someone wanted to buy my whole car, that could influence my decision to not buy another one. I should have my insurance check next week(fingers crossed) and then I will know more. The visors sag badly and the drivers one snapped like yours and I fixed it with a dowel. Thanks all.

Stephen

Stephan,

So very sorry to hear about your crash. I was in Oregon last year on vacation and wished I had my SVX. It is a great car for out there. You must have really ripped up a few roads with the Nox.

Take care.

Watch your back

John
