Call me crazy, but.....

Ive been thinking about this idea for awhile now but all my subaru friends keep telling me "its not worth it" "its a waste of time" "its too old" "it wont be what you expect" about me building up a svx engine. everyone tells me do a ej25 build, "people are making plenty of power with them" or if you must, do a ez30r.
I say no, and a turn you people to for your opinions since you would know best.
What are your opinions of this? How do you feel this engine makes as a platform vs the ej25 and ez30r? etc etc etc.

Now the way i want to build it is full out race, T-sleeve the block, forged rods, pistons, P@P heads, full race cams, gt42r with spray. people have made 700whp with ej25 blocks, i think by adding another 35% output to that it be closer to 1000 supra territory WHP power.
