actually if you held it in your hand, you'd realize how small it was. it's the perfect size compared to those hp's, treo's, etc. i've found tons of nice little features and apps for it.

$40/month. unlimited.

Cool

so for $2 more per month than my DSL, i go from 3Mbps to 15Mbps. the installer told me that within the month, they will be upgrading all the 15 subscribers to 20Mbps for free.

...so after 8 long years of dial-up, last month I caved, & took Verizon up on their $19.95 offer for basic DSL. In three days my modem was on the door step. In a few days more, I was given an install date. More days later, uh.... install date moved out. "Checking facilities". More days.... voice mail. "Sorry, DSL not available to your address (in the heart of affluent Merryland suburbia). OK, I live in an "older" neighborhood. I call Verizon. "When will you be upgrading facilities"? "Dunno". (Please call business office & sit on eternity hold). Get bent!....now forced to call dreaded Comcast, except they call me first. Of course they call me begging every week. "Your lucky day Mr.Telemarket butt-head."
I order the "Comcast does-it-all" package. Phone, Digital TV & internet...What, 1.5 meg download? Hell, gotta beat a 33.6 modem.
Comcast gives me a date two weeks out.... sends me a postcard, & makes two phone calls to verify the time (8-12) & date. Guess what?
NO!!! Larry & Moe, the cable guys ACTUALLY show up within the proper timeframe, beef up my home-made splitter n' spaghetti cable disaster, install the modem, cable TV box, & move on. Everything WORKS!!! I'm finally living in the proper decade!
Uh...FIOS??? Asked Verizon. "Sometime in the future perhaps, maybe".

A week after I cut the deal with Comcast, another Verizon tele-mucketer calls. "Sir, have you considered our $19.95 DSL offer"?
"Bwaa-ha-ha-ha-ha"!!!!

Click!!!

that sucks - when i got their DSL, i hooked everything up after it arrived, and it was turned on and working about 3 days before it was supposed to. then they upgraded it last year from 1.5Mbs to 3Mbs for free.

the FIOS will be upgraded free from 15Mbs to 20Mbs at the beginning of June.

i don't know how Comcast is, but our local cable is Adelphia, and it has MUCH suck. i actually cut down a large oak tree so i could get DirectTV it was so bad.

the speed test:

Your Results: 13430 Kb
Avg. Results: 2447 Kb
Comcast: 3916 Kb

Don't know about all the numbers, but I do know that the DSL on this machine allows me to do whatever I want to in seconds, rather than hit "connect' on the other one, get a shower, pack my lunch, and wait for whatever I wanted to do,to fall from my memory banks, while waiting for the 'connect' to actually happen!!!!
