I am not sure if anyone covered this topic but I just got back online today. I am not a happy camper. I hope no one here works for AT&T. These morons did not warn anyone and shut off the servers? How can they do business like that... Oh that's why they are shutting down. DUH!. I am still pissed though. It took me 4 hours of phone calls out of which 3.5 hours on hold to get this connections back online. And their DNS still does not work. I have to do ipconfig /flushdns /registerdns every other minute. I am running my own DNS server on my linux box now. Anyway, to cut the long story short, I am back online. I will go through stuff I missed later this weekend.

Ah, the imperfections of the digital age. Gotta love it. I just spent 150 bucks to get an old '80s analog Pioneer tuner repaired. Why? I just love the look of it, & when you spin the tuner dial it goes ZZZZZZZZZZ from one end to the other. And them VU meters, gawd! Livin' in the past, as usual.
Ron.

Excite @ Home is the one that just filed for bankruptcy.
http://www.home.net/news/dec4-01.html
I heard something in the news about a standoff in court over who gets to own the infrastructure. The resellers like AT&T (also part owner of Excite @ Home) and Time Warner want to buy it and keep customers online but the financers of Excite @ Home want more money for it than it would cost to build their own network. I beleive the problem was that it was estimated that it would take 18 months to build a new infrastructure...

I wonder if George Bell (CEO of Excite @ Home) will have to give up any of his 4.2Mil salery in order to pay off the companies debts... yeah, right.

Ahhh the joys of corporate greed stealing from the mouths of consumers...

Have a Smurfy Day.

Doug

Didn't you get the numerous letters from AT&T? I got at least 4 all saying the same thing. I must admit though, I was quite cheesed (barring another word) about the whole ordeal as well. I had 7 websites and email associated go down with it.

Then it gets better, I've all sorts of routing issues since they have brought it back up, as they haven't routed the AT&T networks together correctly. And I also lost half my upload speed, which I paid extra for in the first place!!! I'm going to wait until Monday to complain, I'm sure they have millions calling all day.
