Unhappy Horror In My Yard !!!

After catching almost a dozen in my kitchen, and a couple in my bedroom, I decided to go around outside to find the source. Holding the flashlight up by my head, I see hundreds of tiny specks of light in the woodpile outside of my kitchen window. THIS is what I find..... just one of many....and not nearly the biggest. Tomorrow, its Ortho time and until then.... a major lack of sleep

We are kinda fond of spiders, and we have a "toleration" policy in the house about them.

If they get to being too plentiful, I catch them and put them outside. Now, granted we don't have any poisonous ones here, and ones that bite are pretty rare as well.

A suggestion: as you have possibly identified the nesting source of them to be the woodpile beside your house, would it be practical for you to move the woodpile to a spot a little bit away from the house? These guys would probably prefer to move around in an area where there are bugs for them to catch anyway.

Re: Horror In My Yard !!!

I sort of tolerate them myself as long as they aren't crawling on me and the webs aren't to obvious. They do help keep down other bugs. If one gets in the bathtub and can't get out, I drape a towl down the side so it can crawl out. Well, I do admit that I kill any that are of the dangerous variety such as fiddle back, black widow or brown recluse, but I have never found any of these in my houses.

I think it is said that no matter where you are in the world, you are within 3 feet of a spider.

Its a lot of fun when you wake up and there is a spider dangling inches in front of your face.

You do swallow about 8 spiders a year in your sleep.

no it's not...

My stance on spiders is if I cant see your web, if I dont see you, and if you dont bite anyone, we can live in peace

I'm sure I'm way above that average as I live in the basement and feel no need to kill something that for the most part never bothers me.

Hmm... carbs from beer, protein from spiders, you get two of your basic food groups right there
