Replacing Airbags

I hit a pothole in a dark Parking lot recently.... I was turning sharply and accelerating toward the exit whet I hit the deep puddle at about 15 MPH.
BANG... My airbags deployed...! Obviously, When this happened it startled the bejeezus out of me, but fortunately, There was No damage to My 96 LSi, and I sit back from the steering wheel so it didn't even knock my fedora off.
However, it seems like this minor bump, shouldn't have set off the Airbags. Has anyone else experienced premature Airbag deployment?

I have a set of replacement Airbags (salvaged) and I don't mind paying someone to install the replacements, I'm just having trouble finding a shop that will do it.

This is my 7th SVX and I have pretty good mechanical skills and full set of Factory Shop Manuals, but I'm wondering if it's safe or prudent to tackle this project in my garage? Will the Airbag Deployment Sensors and Computer reset automatically?

Thank's in advance for any insight or advice.
