Need Advice SVX for sale
Hey guys just got done looking at an svx. IT has 107,000k, 1994, partially repainted, awd, rebuilt tranny at 85k, timing belt and water pump done at 98k roughly, everything else seems to check out, new struts.
The interior is immaculate, the leather on the passenger side and rear seats looks practically new, the driver side has a little wear but nothing noticable. The one problem is that after driving it, smoke is emitting from the rear passenger side engine compartment. The smoke is coming from the hole between the strut and the throttle body, was able to pin point where exactly it was coming from. What do you guys think it could be? Oh and he's asking 6,200 and he's pretty firm on it. Depending on what you guys respond with, we may buy it tonight. Thanks in advance chris |

is it oil smoke or atf smoke... I am inclined to think it is the rear main engine seal as this is the symptoms my car had when my rear main was forked.

mike, the smoke was whiteish in color, actually it resembled that of when we were racing darryl? not sure of his name in indiana, the whitestripe green svx. The smoke was similar to this. I can't remember what we said that was caused by, do you?

Could also be power steering fluid leaking from the rack connections back there.
With the partial repaint (why??????) this sounds OK. Have you had the rest of the car checked out mechanically Chris? Good luck! Todd
