Smile Please contact Autoart to produce a scale model of the SVX

This is what I wrote:

To whom at AutoArt,

I am writing to your comany in regards to why you have never made a production scaled model of the Subaru SVX. The car was produced by Subaru from 1991-1997. Even though the car production cycle totaled little more than 25,000 in the world, the Subaru SVX has quite a following around the world. The car was designed by Giugiaro himself. I not only am a fan of the SVX but I actually own one, and would love to buy a scale model of my car. I belong to an international SVX network, called: SVX World Network. (www.subaru-svx.net) And the topic of a scale model has come up. Alot of SVX owners like myself are looking for a scale version of my car and so would alot of model car collectors as well. I have searched hi and low for a model of the SVX, neitheir AutoArt or your competion has ever produced the SVX. I am sure that if you produce the SVX in a 1:18 scale that it would be a winner. Your company would be the first in the market to have it. So please consider producing the SVX, thank you.

Regards,

AWDSVX

Those are awfully pretty models. They look very expensive.

Okay, I emailed 'em, too. It's worth a shot.

I own some 1:18 Autoart models, and they can be above $50, maybe $70 or $80, but the detail and quality definitely shows. I'm sending them an email.

John Rowe of http://www.subarusvx.com had a batch of fantastic SVX models made. I bought two of them.

He's not trading at the moment, but I'm sure he'll want to sell off the remaining ones at some time in the future.

Phil.

But Giugiaro didn't design the SVX himself. He helped with the interior, but the exterior was basically done when he came on board. Come now, no glorifying the SVX to more than it really is.

That's not entirely accurate either, Rob. True, Subaru had an initial design theme that they wanted to follow, but Giugiaro was hired to refine it into the SVX - both inside and out. His influence can be seen all over the car. Park an SVX next to a DeLorean or a Lotus Esprit and you can see many similarities.

In the DeLorean, it's actually uncanny.

Disagree. Who was the guy who had that big 12-15 page scan of the SVX info up before? It was in a magazine. Road and track maybe? Not sure. I read it this summer, but it was taken down due to server space. Anyway... on there it stated that he wasn't responsible for the exterior.

Rob,

R&T says a lot of things. GG did some work on the exterior as well (the spoiler was not it though).

All,

I wrote in to SOA and SOA once told me that there were models of the car made by 3 well known model makers. I'll have to dig the email again. But so far, I have seen none at the hobby stores.

Of course they don't have plans to make an SVX model - they assume there's not enough demand. If they received enough requests, they'd make one.

I urge everybody to write AutoArt a quick email. Their address is contact@gatewayglobal.com.

I found an Alcyone SVX model made by Tamiya at my local hobby shop. I was so excited when I found it! When I went to get it I was sorely disappointed to find that it was nothing more than an XT Coupe. Apparently in Japan they called the XT an SVX/Alcyone. Grrr...

I will try to dig up an email address for Maitso (I think that is the name) as they make lovely scaled replicas at nice prices. Some of the models I've seen them make are of very low production cars so I don't think that volume is a deciding factor when it comes to deciding what cars to make replicas of.
