I feel like crying (Another Accident here)
Some lady basically drove into the back of my SVX. The damage isn't real bad but... ****ing a... why can't people learn how to drive?!??!
ARGhhasflkjdfk.... I am so frustrated. Instead of ticketing people for going 10 over how about we use all that energy to have people get retested for their drivers licenses every 3 years!!!! Photos and more info to come in afew minutes. - Ca$h |

Okay, so I woke up at 7:50am today... got up, got dressed, and left my gf's apartment to go back to my moms house. I had forgotten some school supplies there and wanted to take a shower there anyway. Well, I'm driving on a 2 laned one way street, in the left lane... going about 25-30mph... I see a new SILVER chevy impala start to slow down in front of me... it's in the RIGHT lane... as I approach her and overtake her... I notice her blinker is on... hrm... she must want to get into my lane-CRUNCH!!!!! F******CKKK!!!!!!!. I put on the brakes and put my head on the steering wheel in frustration... I get out of my car... walk around... ohhhhhhh awesome... the quarter panel is all caved in, my back bumper is screwed up, and the wheel looks like sh*t.
Just then, the WOMAN DRIVER of the Impala comes up to me and starts frantically ranting about how she had her turn signal on, and how she was in hte left lane... I responded, "Well... you weren't. I was in the left lane and you basically just drove into the back of my car... " She offers to exchange info, but no way, I'm taking care of this right now. So I call the cops, and we both pull into a side street. She's outside of her car crying... she has 3 other women passengers trying to comfort her. Being the gentlemen I am I go up to her and tell her that it can be fixed, and the most important thing is that nobody is hurt. This calms her down somewhat. Then... I wait for hte cops. The cop takes about 40 minutes to get there.... he talks to her first, then comes up to me. I tell him what happened... he leaves... turns out she's getting a ticket for lane deviation (good) and this accident is basically her fault (good). As some of you may remember, just last month I had an old man in a SILVER Chevy S10 back into my bumper... so I'm thinking that as long as I can avoid all silver GM vehicles from now on I'll be okay. >:| So let's summarize here: Since I bought my SVX, I've had a rock hit the windshield cracking it, had autoglass specialists ATTEMPT to repair it (the crack is still getting bigger), had someone in a blueish truck drive into the back of my car while ATTEMPTING to park... had a silver S10 back into the front of my car while ATTEMPTING to park.... and had a lady in a silver impala drive into the back of my car while ATTEMPTING to drive. Awesome. Hopefully be next year I'll have been t-boned on both sides, been rear-ended by a silver GM suburban, hit head on by another silver GM vehicle, and had my car burned up due to another collision with a silver Tahoe or something. Anyway, here are the pictures: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291013399 |

Another accident
Sorry again. Ever think that its time for you to think about changing your driving habits and drive and park defensively? Maybe saying this *$@& is gonna come over in my lane maybe I should adjust and give her the bird instead of dealing with the hassle of getting damage fixed. How about parking an extra 20 feet away where there aren't as many cars. Not saying you were in the wrong but it seems just easier and cheaper to take some precautions in the long run.

I am a defensive driver. As for parking...heh... tell you what, I'll PAY for you to come to madison if you can find a parking spot withing 2 miles of my apt that has '20 ft' around it. :P Thats impossible my friend. ... I'm the most defensive driver I know. I've been 'this close' to almost being killed mroe times than I can count. Clearly, something needs to be done. Perhaps I shoudl sell my beloved SVX and purchase another 1978 Mercury Marquis Brougham, and install titanium spikes and shaped charges all over it so it kills anyone who runs into it. :|

Actually, I'm thinking about getting my dad to weld some 'push bars' for the front and rear of my SVX... I'd paint htem hunter orange too, that way when peopel back into my car they wouldn't screw it up.

Sorry, not your accident. I'm sorry you had another one. But, I'm also glad that, faced with the person who hit you this time, you handled it the right way. Damn, dood. I can't believe your rotten luck. I know what you mean about the parking situation in Madison, though. I've been there many, many times. Ann Arbor is very similar, but luckily I was able to get an apartment outside of town and my company pays for covered parking. I suppose, since your assailant wasn't ready to own up to not looking before she changes lanes, she's not going to admit to her insurance company that it was her fault so they can take care of it. I was in a similar situation when I was in college, but luckily the other driver fully admitted that she did something really stupid and even told her insurance company the same. Her insurance paid for the repairs to my truck.

However, having said that, it still sux to have to deal with all that B.S. But perhaps this has all been a humbling experience. And this does make me wonder a bit. Clearly you're not driving in New York City, so how crazy can drivers in Wisconson truly be? If you've had as many brushes with near collisions and what not as you say, it is definitely time to give your driving habits a reevaluation. Concerning parking, I agree with the previous statement - if there's a parking garage within 5 minutes of your place, use it. It's worth it. |

I've learned to deal with it. I live and park downtown, but I used to rent near campus and I finally decided my car was just going to have to wait until I moved into my own place before I get the bumpers fixed. I used to go through about four license plate protectors on the front every year. People just keep backing up into me. Now I pay extra and park in the nearest ramp on the top floor away from everybody. It costs more, but its far cheaper than repairs. As for driving, I stay alert, watch for what people around me are doing and assume they aren't looking. Ive been in a few close calls, but I've always been able to react to avoid an accident. I either slow down, speed up, honk, or change lanes. My friend who races always told me that I turn my head to the side and back so fast when I check my blind spot, that he couldn't understand why I don't have self-inflicted whiplash. I guess it has saved me a few times. Doug

Every time I was in an accident or in a near hit, it has always been with a truck of some sort. So I stay away from them.

Rob, I'm really proud of how you handled yourself this time! I'm very sorry for what happened to your car.
I happen to be a big believer in karma just like Lwin is. My personal belief is that we are tested all the time. It seems the more frustrated I get at bad drivers, the more bad drivers get thrown into my path. Once I calm down and start handling things better they seem to vanish. Since you have learned how to handle these situations better, maybe now things will get easier since you have proven that you can control your emotions and have passed this test. Better luck in the future and keep up the good work

i noticed how you said "WOMAN DRIVER" and you made no attempt to bring attention to the fact that the MALE DRIVER hit a parked car.
i am sorry to hear about your car getting hit, yet again. i live in NJ and they are the worst drivers period. ask anyone that has ever visited NJ. i can safely say the only times i have ever been hit was by a male driver. in NJ, this accident would be ruled no fault, which means you would have to pay the $500 deduct and get a higher insurance rate, so hopefully you don't have the sames laws. when she was crying you should have let the stupid twit cry. she screwed up. any person could have made the same mistake male or female.. Kelli may i suggest rubber bumpers for all four sides of your car?
