Some say yes, and some say no.

The Center diff in the 5 speed is a viscous coupler. It operates the same as the rear LSD already on the car. The only downside is that the operation degrades over time. If you want to change the coupler I believe they are ~$400 from Subaru and can be changed on the car.

The auto uses a clutch that operates with hydraulic pressure. This also can wear out over time and can be replaced on the car. I think this one might hold up longer than the viscous coupler.
