Re: BRZ

I just bought one of these last week. I absolutely love this car. It reminds me of a cross between my old MR2 and SVX MT. Driving this car is a thrill and the aftermarket is already booming with parts.

Yes the Scion FR-S is exactly the same car. The only tweak was in suspension and minor tweaks (bumper, fender decor) ...but it's the same. The Subaru version gives some nice extras that I truly enjoy (such as RF keyfob / push button start, heated seats and automatic climate control and navigation).

There's a guy down the street from me with an SVX. I want to get a photo shoot going - he's got a pearly in great condition but I never see him around.

Re: BRZ

We drove a BRZ yesterday. To be honest, I was disappointed. The BRZ accelerates handles and stops better than our SVX. However, my SVX has a light & airy feeling (maybe beause of the weird window design) while I felt that the BRZ was more of a dim, tight cocoon (possibly due to the black interior).

The car model was BRZ Ltd. with a manual Tranny. It was black with black interior. It came off the truck the day before and was not dealer prepped. Traffic was too heavy to really let it out but the BRZ does grip very well around corners. It has slightly less of a smooth ride than the SVX and is almost as quiet.

It was obvious that Rosie and I did not fit the car too well. My backside had trouble getting really comfortable in the seat and my feet (BIG) hooked the pedals a couple of times. The shoulder belt cut Rosie across her neck and chin in both seats.

Maybe we are just getting too old for a real sports car but I really enjoy the comfort of my SVX.

Re: BRZ

Whoever wrote that article is a fool.

What!? A highly sought after, niche car, that most are sold before they ever reach the dealer is costing more that msrp?

Re: BRZ

engine idle troubles already, Toyota offers reflash, Subaru ... ???

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2012...NEWS/121009939

after reading up on these a little, i'm under the impression they really cheaped out on these cars and they are poorly built. CEL's, rattles, engine noises .... typical recent Subaru stuff.

What's so surprising, he's just stating the facts... these cars, and the Fit, etc. are selling at premiums.

The BRZ is in high demand, especially manual transmissions. At least here in California dealers are being really tight with them. They usually only have one or two, or none on the lot. They sell for at least a couple hundred under sticker, but mostly they are at sticker or above.

And the BRZ is a niche car... the only other car out there that even comes close to the BRZ layout/size is a Miata. There is nothing else is like it.
