Hood Release Cable Broke

Hello,

My hood release cable broke and I would like to know if anyone has information on how to get under that hood when this happens and then how to fix it.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: Hood Release Cable Broke

Can you tell where it broke? Maybe you could still pull the cable from inside the car if it broke at or near the handle.

Re: Hood Release Cable Broke

I'm not sure exactly where it may have broken or if something else is wrong. I pulled it and it didn't have that normal feel where you can tell the catch is releasing. It seems to be fine near the handle and I tried tracing it and using pliers thinking maybe there was something wrong with the handle in the car.

Re: Hood Release Cable Broke

did you try having someone else pull on the hood while you mess with the handle? or push it down hard to see if it isn't in the catch all the way? not frequently but sometimes my hood won't open without 2 people (or a doorstop jammed under it) and the handle doesn't feel like it is doing anything.
