Re: intake air duct

for a cone filter you can use a cheap adaptor setup for a 90's subaru.

for the piping itself, right now its up to you to make it, no current off the shelf setup is avalible.

Re: intake air duct

Just gonna go ahead and point out that the stock intake is not that bad, except for the accordian part. It sucks air from the fenderwell, not from the engine bay, so if whatever intake you make doesn't, then you're not really helping anything.

There is a good example here: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5649

Re: intake air duct

icingdeath is right on. Install a quality air filter and maybe straighten out the accordian section and you're there, with a lot less trouble.

Re: intake air duct

Just consider where you are drawing the air from, and the maintenance of the filter. Dirt and water (slush up north) from the inner fender or, cleaner air from the front. The original Engineers weren't stupid. Bean counters may have restricted their options but, I bet, they weren't far off. Maybe check with where they started from and eliminate the restrictions. Materials? I doubt the engine will know the difference between plastic or aluminum. I hope I'm not sounding harsh. I mean this with peace and good will.

Re: intake air duct

Not for nothin', but can anyone legitimately justify the removal of the "accordion" section of the intake?

Not really, but look at the thing. Can't be good for airflow.

That's a little short of science. How well read are you in fluid dynamics?

Would you be willing to question whether the feature is either negligible or actually positive in its influence to flow?

Re: intake air duct

There may be some debate as to how well it works, I have had this one for quite some time and still seems to work great.
