Thumbs up Cool Tip on Filling Tranny with Fluid

Just viewed on "Gearz" program on SPEED. Believe it or not he was using an "ENEMA BAG"!! Straight from the local drug store they come with a thin enough tube to fit the trans fill-tube and an On/Off valve in-line. Fill the tube with the exact amount of your choice of fluids, hang it, insert the tube and let her rip! No muss no fuss, no spills. Last tip was to be sure to keep it in the garage!!

Re: Cool Tip on Filling Tranny with Fluid

Actually, it's recommended that you drain your trans, measure exactly how much you drained and replace that amount, then repeat after driving some distance. Obviously, if it requires more than the bag's capacity, repeat as needed. Capacity listed in the manual is 10-10.4 qts. From experience it's unlikely you'll get all the old fluid out using the drain-plug, hence the "dilution process". Always check to avoid over-filling.

Generally speaking, if you remove the trans pan drain plug, you will get four quarts of ATF in about 1/2 hour.
If you refill with fresh ATF and run it about twenty miles, you can do it again and about 1/2 of your ATF will be fresh, clean and new.
I USED to drain and refill my trans every 6000 miles, til I went with BG Products fully synthetic ATF.

Re: Cool Tip on Filling Tranny with Fluid

Well, I thought it was a cool idea, but it looks like enema bag sales won't go off the chart any time soon.
As far as the thread hi-jack, what's it take to get a little respect around here???

I almost spit out my coffee reading this.

RR is surprised he got his thread hijacked after using the term "enema" in the first post? Around here?
