rear main oil seal
Looking for the procedure of replacing the rear main oil seal. Is oil pan removal necessary? Oil pan gasket looks like It might need changed as well.

The rear main seal wraps around the output flange of the crankshaft. To replace it you have to pull either the engine or the transmission to get access to the back of the engine. The oil pan does not have a gasket, it's sealed by high-temp RTV gasket silicon.
