Question FWD 5spd

well as it turns out my 94 L went through it's second transmission

and although i've been trying to get a rebuilt one, the price is...well a little crazy

so, i looked at the kit from smallcar and it's cheaper then the 4EAT and it got me thinking....ive wanted to do a 5spd swap so why not now, however, im only FWD and im not sure if that kit would work.

i called and asked and the owner (im guessing) and he said that all they have to do is cap off the rear where the rear driveshaft comes out....is that a safe move? would there be any problems?

any help would be greatful

p.s. has anyone had any trouble with that company's transmission?

Re: FWD 5spd

I know earl had some issues with smallcar. I too was not impressed with their 5 speed kit. Every single piece was either not usable, or had to be modified. Get in contact with All We'll Drive. They make a top notch kit.

Re: FWD 5spd

You just need to pick up a FWD 5-Speed out of an early Legacy(which should be really cheap)....and then a kit from "All We'll Drive" and you'll be set....

Re: FWD 5spd

You could also convert to AWD manual. I have a 94L also and Tom converted it to a 6-speed AWD for me when I was living in Jersey. It will require you finding a donor AWD SVX somewhere. (which I currently have one sitting in Delaware)
