From the smell and the shovelful of debris I cleaned out beforehand, the stains included at least the following: chocolate, milk, coffee, birthday candles(melted to the carpet) and soda.

Re: Cleaning the 93. Warning: Not for the weak stomach.

I spent some time reconditioning cars... It's amazing, the stuff that kids deposit in cars - mostly consumables.

Mike, if you get to removing the lower dash panels, any up-in-there shots really help out. Anyplace there are modules, harnesses, relays... Any and all of it is better than the something-like-this of the manuals.

Disassembly of the console and dash - pictures of those are as good as gold.

Good to see a SVX that has been so abused get rescued. good luck with the project!

Re: Cleaning the 93. Warning: Not for the weak stomach.

Nice work.

I think that most of this mess is a design issue with the svx. If we had a decent cup holder, we wouldn't spill our drinks down the sides of the console. And once the drink is spilled, it gets on your hands and clothes and everywhere. Multiply your spilled drink with the wife's and kids and you can have a mess like this in no time. Once it's there the only way to really clean it up is to pull the seats out and how many people are going to do that?

Note: bubblegum is pretty easy to get out if you put ice on it for a few minutes.

It would be nice if my cars were waterproofed so that I could just pressure wash the car inside and out.

Scotchguard the carpet. It makes things a lot easier to clean.

Re: Cleaning the 93. Warning: Not for the weak stomach.

Yuk!

Thanks for the pics. Definitely helpful to see full-color views to locate things instead of crappy line drawings.

What's under the oval-shaped access-panel-looking thing in the trunk (forward of the spare tire, behind the rear seat back)? It's visible in the 5th pic in post #1 (DSCN1962.jpg). Answering my own question, from the drivetrain layout it looks like it allows access to the top of the rear diff. When might a person need to do that (as opposed to just removing the thing)?

Is that black module in front of the parking brake the Shift Lock Control Unit?

Is there anything else behind the parking brake besides the front lap belt retractors? Now I know why there's so much empty space under the rear ashtray in 94s and later.

Wow nice Mike. The old carpet looked like they spilled chili or through up on it. Did the carpet smell?

David,

That is the fuel pump access plate (top of tank). There is nothing additional beneath the console and yes that small black module adjecent to the ebrake is the shift lock controller.

Are you talking about the fuel pump?

Keep up with the work!
