i think i did something stupid.. mystery harnesses?

i have a 97 lsi

well i was in the fuse box (under the dash) and i noticed some harnesses that didnt connect to anything, i noticed two looked liked they belonged togehter so i plugged em together to see what would happen.. well when i started the car, my check engine light started BLINKING.... yes blinking... instead of jsut coming on for a few min and going off or something liek that it simply was blinking pretty rapidly and consistantly at regular intravals....

so i decided to unplug that harness ASAP... butthe light is still blinking.....

so i have now 3 questions

WTF are those harnesses for? and where do they lead? (the more specific the knowledge the more ill be able to sleep at night)

and what is now wrong with my car?

ill take a pic of the issue and circle the harness i connected

Arrow Blinking ligh

You may try and take off your ground on your battery, let it sit there for awhile and then hook it back up.

Allways looking for a cheap solution.

well i had the codes read at my gf's dad's girage.. .and no codes were coming through.... apparently the code machine doesnt realise i have a check engine light blinking...... any thoughts when it was set to clear the codes it didnt change anything.....

so now to recap....

i have a blinking check engine light

the car is not giving off any codes

clearing the codes does not stop the blinking

disconnecting the battery does not stop the blinking

SOMEbody has had to have had this problem... i cant believe im the only one.

Well one thing to check is fuses. Hooking up things that arent supoose to be can blow fuses pretty quickly. You could have blow a fuse to something that isnt all that important or not regularly used. It's unlikely that something like that would be unnoticed but it is possible and doesnt take long to check and it's free.

I don't know, man. You may be.

When I was little, being an inquisitive sort, I took a length of wire I'd found in my grandparents' barn and stuck it into a lamp socket.

Never did that again.

Sorry, kuroneko_sama, just messin' with you. Good luck sorting out the trouble.
