Sad to have to part with the car, but I think I'd quit discussin' the matter, take that settlement check and hurry about my business before they change their minds.

In FL you can keep the car. There is a tiltle for inoperable automobiles if you want to be official about it. Putting one up on blocks in your yard may violate local codes but in the countryside it seems to be a prerequsite for every house.

Ok, my adjuster said I could get the car for about 1000.(high I thought) only for parts(FL makes the choice if they allow a slvage title to repair it or keep the title and give a parts only receipt.

Should I keep it for parts, cannibalize it and them scrap the hulk? Worth up to $1000? My wife said she didn't want a parted out hulk outside even under a car cover...

It's worth keeping for that. You can strip it and keep the parts for your replacement.

I have no familiarity with the history of your car, but I'd think that just looking at the major components, you'd be able to recoup your $1k.

Heck, there has to be someone who would buy the entire drivetrain for 1K, leaving you with all the interior, exterior, and chassis parts to sell/ whatever.

If it was me, I'd do it just to make a huge dune buggy out of the drivetrain or something...

Hey, Jeff you should definitely buy the car for parts! Especially since I live on Long Island too If you buy for parts I'd be interested in wheels It will look so much better on cinder blocks!

Nice actually runnning into you today Dan, even at Taco Smell...

The good news is we're gettin her back..just couldn't say goodbye that way.
Now I need a good Sam that will reasonably straighten her out-I thnk it's all fixable-seen much worse wrecks put back together. It all comes down to FL whether they give us a salvage title or just a dismantler receipt. And the price of buying her back was way less than we were told...

Hi Jeff,

Yeah that was funny. Small world. I'm still hurting from Taco Smell. I put only the best in the SVX and only the worst in me.

Good luck with putting your car back together again.

You really gave me a laugh when you asked how much I wanted for my car and I knew it had to be you.
