Or you can strip it down, and get it 700 pounds lighter and leave "Stock" behind...

Like David mentioned, these cars aren't the greatest in the stock category (G-Stock) - not many suspension pieces can be 'legally' changed and the true 'X' factor that makes a car competitive in a class is a low curb weight. That's why decent powered, light-weight cars such as the Mini Cooper/ Cooper S, Integra Type R, Celica GT-S and Civic Si do so well in autoX competition.

David is right...at least for its "stock" class (GS), which is populated with supercharged Minis ....Ben/Dave will see how it fares in FP this season, while I'll be checking out the ESP competition...(the next two steps in the SVXi's autoX evolution)

I'm not sure what kind of super drivers the States has, but up here I just need some better tires and less body roll.
AWD might help a bit in the snow.
Other than that the SVX is fairly competitive and as someone pointed out to me one day, "it has balls".
If you are a competant driver you can do well in auto-x.

In the DC and Virginia regions, they're several drivers that compete locally who are former national finalists or winners.

Bill (SVXRide) and Harry (newsvx) are both very competent drivers and race their SVXs on sticky r-compound tires. While they can be competitive, it's very hard for them to match the times of similarly competent drivers in lighter weight cars such as the s/c Mini Cooper S or Celica GT-S (that compete in the G-Stock class).

Alan, Alan, Alan,
And how wrong you are! The H3 takes over 11 sec to reach 60 MPH. As for autocross, take a look at http://www.gws-mbca.org/ax/ax2005.html for the 2005 results of the season for the Mercedes Club with which we autocross. Overall seventh (of the non-Benz cars) for the SVX isn't too bad - placing behind the following, in order of finish (1st through 6th): 2000 Audi S4 (driven by Mike Wirt - SVX'er), 2003 Honda S2000, 2002 WRX, 1999 Mustang GT, and 2002 VW GTI 337.

But the major point, we have lots of FUN! You should try it. The SVX will surprise you!

Harry
