Tensioner bracket

Has anyone seen a broken tensioner pulley bracket? Mine broke the square bar below the pulley about 2-3" in length. I've never seen this before and the only reason we could come up with as a cause was wobbling from a worn pulley bearing.

are you talking about the PS tensioner or the AC tensioner?

I have seen a cracked PS tensioner.
I think the main cause is failure to loosen the nut on the pulley before trying to tension the pulley - the binding could be causing the crack.

Yes the PS tensioner. The piece was broken off, loose and rattling otherwise I would not have noticed.

I guess the pulley was loose as well

The bolt was bent when I bought mine. Makes it a pain to tighten and loosen, but that isn't enough to make me replace it, works fine as a tensioner. Sorry to hear about your tensioner. It doesn't seem like a wobbling pulley would do it... that is a weird piece to break. I can't remember how the slide works, but maybe a mechanic thought it was just stuck and kept cranking on it, I always assumed that is what happened to my bolt...

My dad's going to see if he can get it welded. I've "borrowed" the same part from my dad's SVX while he waits to get parts that he probably never will.
