Newbie says Hello
Hi,
Have just purchased my first SVX and already in shop for tranny rebuild and possibly a rear diff rebuild. However this has not put me off as I know basically it is a very sound machine. It is a 1994 JDM with 65k. black/silver. Have been reading the forum for a few weeks with interest about the weak points and plus points of these machines. I also run a 1989 XT Turbo, my third, 180k and still going. My location is S. Devon and I believe one or two members are local, reading back through the archive, would love to hear of their experiences if they want to contact. A quick enquiry to those who know. I have a red light on the upper part of the profile graphic tell tale. What does it relate to?? It is not a graphic but japanese writing. Thanks in advance for any advice. Wyn |

Hi, welcome to the club. I'm from Tedburn St. Mary near Exeter, but now living near Windsor, we still come to Devon quite often to visit family though.
The red japanese writing means that the diff-lock fuse is inserted. This fuse is only supposed to be inserted for testing the transmission and it's very possibly the cause of your transmission problems. You need to remove the fuse for normal driving. The fuse box is in the engine bay near the battery. Look at this picture of a US-model fuse box. The diff-lock fuse is circled in red. (US models have a FWD fuse instead of a diff-lock fuse). http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/Boone/5510.jpg Hope you can make it to the JAE (See Phil Hill's message). Phil. Welcome !!
Welcome to our little corner of the SVX World.
Hope you get the car fixed up in time for our meeting at JAE in Peterborough on the 22nd to 24th July. This will be our fourth annual meeting and is part of the Japanese Auto Extravaganza, an annual Japanese car enthusiast event covering all makes, models and ages. We attended as a "club" last year for the first time, and were impressed enough to give it a go again this year. There are some pics of past meetings in my "Personal locker", scoot your mouse up to the top right of the screen, select personal lockers, find my user name in the list, and check out the pics. Once again Welcome !! Phil.

Thanks for the welcome. Am looking forward to getting to know the machine. I know where to come if I have a pronlem or need advice. Wish there was a similar forum for the xt. As for the JAE2005, I will have to give it a miss as I will be abroad. Will look for the pics though.
What's all this about Devon?? |

Personal Lockers?
Quote:
Wow! Phil. I have been labouring under the impression that our lockers were not accessible since the new software. When you posted this, I rightclicked, leftclicked, dropkicked every button or logo I could see to no avail. Till the penny dropped. I am using Mozilla Firefox. Something strange is wrong, the links at the top of the page did not come across when using Firefox. I lit up Internet Explorer, and Voila!!, the links are there. Thanks for the tip. And you are very welcome to the Forum, Kuritsa, pity you are not around for the show. You would enjoy it as much as we would enjoy meeting you. Joe
