My wife is an Acct Mngr at a financial management company. Her boss knew the owner of the venue (Star Hill), and pulled some strings for us.

One thing I'll add...

Is that even though G-techs can be quite inaccurate mine seems to give readings which match my results at the track. I've done one 1/4 mile with it and got a 15.41 @ 91.4 mph (but had a full tank of gas and spare in the trunk). This is just 0.1 off of the time I ran last season and the higher trap speed could be due to the fact that the g-tech doesn't average speed over the last 60ft like they do at the drag strip.

Either way, I would be surprised if my braking distances were off by more 4-5 feet.

However, my main intention was to establish a baseline before switching to the Race Concepts rotors and Axxis Metal Master pads. Everyone talks about how their SVX stops much better with these products, but I'm a numbers kinda guy and I want to see improvement in performance. Slotted rotors and semi-metallic pads should be a pretty aggressive set-up, and will hopefully cut another 5+ feet off my average stopping distance. There should also be an improvement in fade resistance as svxsubaru1 mentioned.

The SVX doesn't have a problem with stopping once. Just with warping (debatable) and fade.

I remember a test where they were getting a distance of 110 or so feet from 60-0.

That's amazing stopping power for a vehicle that's 3600+ lbs!

The Celica GT-S gets around 110, and it's 1100 lbs lighter.

BTW, I ordered the bore/slotted design rotors from Ben. I lost my G-Tech/Pro, or I'd run a few tests myself.

However, I will write a review of the general feel with the new rotors, pads, and brake lines as soon as I get them installed.

Installation will hopefully happen not this, but next Saturday, provided I receive the items next Friday.

Thanks for sharing your stock braking performance tests with us, Chike!

It was the Sept '91 MotorTrend test:

They got a stopping distance of 112ft and 0.92g's on the skidpad!

I have that review and some others. I can scan and put it in a PDF format and post it if you are interested. I know it isn't the actual artical, but it is the next best thing.

My guess is that the Ferrari could do 110-115' all day long....how much does the Ferrari weigh and what is the contact area for its tires?

Agreed. The SVX has a decent braking system that can pull-off amazing one-time stops. However, in a series of repeated stops (e.g. on a race track), I'd take the Ferrari braking system anyday!
