How much did you "haggle" when you bought your SVX

After reading Knightwulf's thread about his purchase (Congrats by the way!) and how he got the previous owner down a grand or so on the price, it got me wondering,

How much did you manage to talk down the price when you bought your SVX and was it from a Dealer/Used Car Lot or Private Owner??

Thumbs up

Dealer was asking $8,900 for my '96 L, and I talked them down to $5,900.

I increased my cash down-payment and they were willing to be more flexible...

The dealership had already dropped the price a grand (or more) by the time I expressed an interest. So, I didn't haggle on the price, but did talk them into giving me a radiator, wheel bearing assembly and AC hose. New, in-the-box, shipped direct, no charge. The car has been rock solid, and I believe I got a very decent deal.

Edit: I found the car online and had it delivered, which is no way to buy a used car. I lucked-out.

Private seller was asking 3,500 for my 92 liquid silver 107k on the odo. New tranny, no rust or damage, clean, excellent order.

But he was moving to Hawaii in 3 days and the car was the only thing holding him up, so I waved 2 and a half grand under his nose in cash and he whined and complained...then took it.

My 92 was on a lot for 6 weeks. Every week I would stop by and tell the dealer if it was a little cheaper I could do it...he finally came down to 3 thousand and my old XT from the original 4400. It's been months now and he can't move my old XT.

7800 plus some fees, shablaowed on credit.
It was just so exciting brushing snow off it and uncovering the sweet machine, haggling was unnecessary.

I haggled they guy down from 3k to 2500. Came back when I had the money after the insurance company finally got me the cash that I deserved, and the guy changed his mind and bumped it up to 2700. I didn't complain and he tossed the keys my way. Best damn 2700 I've EVER spent.

By saying EVER, I imply that I have never spent that amount of money on anything. Most I've ever spent all at once until that point in time was around $150

I have had it almost a year now and even though things are needing replaced, I will never regret any funds into buying her or fixing her.

i only paid $1500 for mine, and put in another grand or so in repairs pretty much right off the bat, so it was all good. Didn't have to haggle at all.

Thats exactly what I paid for my 92 Ebony, Already Replaced
the Radator, both Front Balljoints, both front Swaybar Bushings,
Both front tires... and I still need to replace my windshield
(the crack goes along the bottom, PERFECTLY EVEN with the Defrost vents), and I need to replace the leaking Rack-n-Pinion
Stearing, Also i have a few dents on the driver door and
passenger side fender, and it needs a total paintjob,
all for Struts.. and to top it off... I also need to replace my
finish lamp!!!!

But... for $1500... I cant complain. I didnt realy care what it needed... I've wanted an SVX for so long... so this is my slow-going project car.

I bought my 92 at a Nissan dealership. It had 65k miles and they were asking 6,500. They had just got it in the day before, but since i was willing to take it cash as soon as it got detailed, i got it for 4200 tax tag and title, out the door.
