Help me value a non-running SVX
I need some help to establish a value for a non-running SVX.
The car is a '95 base model with 150K. The tranny is totally shot. Engine runs. No radiator. A/C not working. Several other incidental parts missing- it was begun to be parted out. Body OK, but some dings and a lot of fading paint. Interior is all there (I think), but it is disassembled and piled inside the car. It is located in South Georgia- 31709. Any opinions? All help is appreciated. Thanks! -Paul

Very, very, very little. Once things start getting parted out, the value plummets. At this point, it's really only what it's worth to you.
If you just want the engine, it's worth quite a bit. For any other specific part, (or parts,) it's worth whatever the part is worth. If you want it as a parts car, it's still worth a fair amount unless all the commonly needed parts are already missing. (The back panels on the seats, the sun visors, the wheel centre caps, the centre console, the spoiler, etc..) If you want to fix it up, it's value is below zero! Just a few missing parts can cost you an arm and a leg to replace; partly in money, but also in time. If you intend to fix it up, run the other way. ...unless you want to spend some serious time figuring out exactly what parts are missing - and I can't stress how important it is to be through. Again, if you want to fix it up, it's worth nothing. If you want parts, then it's worth the value of the parts. |

I would agree with UberRoo. My guess would be around $1,000. to $1,500. This is a guess, because I can't see the parts and know the shape that they are in and what is not there. Good luck.

I actually already have the above referenced car. We are considering raising it from the ashes and making a second low budget racer for the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. Part of the deal will be that that we will need to establish a market value as a starting point for the budget. I've done some of my own homework, but had little luck. Any input from you folks would at least offer a basis for comparison.
I'd like to say it is worth $0, because that would give us the most to work with in the budget. I don't believe that would be very honest. So I though I'd ask the opinion of a few thousand of my closest friends!

I just got a 1992 base model parts car for free, but it was cut off just ahead of the front strut mounts, so add 12% for the front end, then the traney was gone so add another 20%, and 1 wheel, add 3%, half the exhaust was gone so add 5% for that, then double the price to get it to the value of a '95, what does that come to?

In all reality, I'm looking for a parts car and have been checking out going prices on ebay. Since it has already had some parts removed, and the tranny and A/C are both shot. I'd say about $300-$500 is a very accurate price.

I'll give you $500 for it right now, but only if shipping is free.
I might normally give more, but I already have a parts car. Mine was $1000, and it runs and drives, all but two parts are there, one and two, and they're assembled! You could reasonably expect to get $1000 for it, but I'd say it'd take quite a while to find a buyer. Perhaps $750 is a good compromise. That's just my take on it. |

I was thinking between $500 and $1000 as well, so I'd agree that $750 sounds good.
edit - Woohoo! This is my 100th post (Only took me 2 1/2 years)

$750 sounds about right. You could easily double that amount if you sold the parts seperately on Ebay...
