Long time no post

Jezzz. I just looked back and it's sure been a long time. Anyway recent sightings have driven back to at least say hi and pass on these movie sightings.

I've been chasing my dreams here at work, working 11-12 hour days and things are looking good. Perhaps not my 'dreams' but I'd like to think that all this hard work and focused attention will have a pay off.

The family have been as wonderful as can be.

Anyway I just wanted to pass on these last two movie sightings that I've seen in the last week.

In the movie "Forget Paris" (Billy Crystal, total chick flick but VERY funny non-the-less). Billy's character takes a job working at a Subaru dealer. I was hoping as they panned across the show room that I'd see one, because the movie was shot in 1994. Sure enough the camera clearly catches a beautiful (aren't they all) Ebony back-end. I don't know why I get so excited about these things but I had to pause the movie and just stare.

The other movie was a little challenging to confirm, but I feel pretty certain. It was a Ron Howard movie called ED TV, staring Mathew Mahonahy (ya like I could spell that), Woody Harrelson (again) and more.

Only in the directors cuts (available on the DVD) is there a TINY wisp of a scene where the back of an SVX is seen turning into the shot as the camara pans across a busy city street. I had to pause and play back about a dozen times to be sure (and I'd someday like someone else to confir) but those tail lights are very unique.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to ya all out there.

Both my Subaru's are weather the FREEZING cold nicely. The SVX is over 104K miles now and running like a champ.... I need to change the oil.

Chow!

Jeff

Jeff,
Great to have you back. Come back more often.

Sheesh, the girls are getting big! I've got your Christmas card on my fridge, so, they give me their big grins every morning.

Ain't little girls great!? Mine's going to take a six month break from school. I'm sure excited to have her back home. It seems like a lot of light left our house when she went away to school.

Jeff! Nice to see you back! Don't be such a stranger!

You know, I think your sighting in Forget Paris is the first time anybody's mentioned it. I certainly didn't remember it - I saw that movie back when it was in theatres.

Edit: You know what? We should keep a list of movie and TV sightings on the site here. Maybe a frame grab or two, if we can. Sure, its technically illegal, but I think we're doing worse by using the SVX logo all over the place without permission.

Flying and stuff

I haven't flow in months. I did a check ride in a 172 in the Fall or was it late summer? I just don't remember.

My father gave me his IFR trainer for the computer. Software and a yoke to keep your IFR skills up.

I don't have any IFR skills so I don't know what he was thinking. I'm going to have to put it up on E-Bay.

I don't want to think about the day the girls have to leave. Sage just started one-day-a-week pre-school. She's only 3.

I don't know how parents get through this all, but I guess I'm in for the ride.

The car's been wonderful. It doesn't much like starting when it's 0 degrees like it's been, but it always does start. It's a new battery, its just too damn cold. It stays in the garage overnight so it doesn't have to be 'exposed' to the REAL cold nights (-14.5F) thus far. But at work during the day it's been getting pretty cold too.

It's not even Feb yet. Jeeezzzz

Wait til the little boys start to come over! One reason I'm not fond of the idea of having a girl.

What IFR trainer is it? Perhaps you could sell it to me

One of our Warriors took a nose dive on landing and chewed up its prop. I'm kinda iffy about getting back into that one...

p.s. Those yokes are great to use on flight simulation software.

Glad to hear it, mine too!
We're already over 100 inches of snow

BTW, I too now have two car seats "permanently" in my backseat.

Trainer...kids AND IFR

The IFR trainer is something put out by ASA. It consists of a yoke with a small 'console' for mixture, prop, MP and a few other knobs like trim and stuff. I need to get the name of it for ya, but it's supposed to be one of the best sims for IFR proficiency at home.

Give me a call or email me if you are interested.

My 3 year old is also going on 13. They are both in gymnastics and learning like crazy. Sage (the 3YO) has a rock climbing wall in her bedroom (surrounding her bed) and she climbs on it every day. She was..as they say...climbing the walls since practically birth so we figured why not just give her someplace safe to climb.

See attached picture.....

They are getting so good at it that we've decided to put a 'negative' slope on the smaller wall to make it more challenging. Her bed is the 'crash' pad. They love it.

When Sage gets stresses (from being 'disciplined') she 'runs' up the wall and screems.

Aren't they great?

My wife got me a couple hours of flight instruction for Christmas, but I just haven't had the chance to use them yet. I can't wait, though. I've always wanted to get my license.

Drifting away

"Can you drift in a plane?"

Yes, It's technically called a slip and it generally makes passengers sick. Also, has the added value of burning altitude in a hurry.....
