FINALLY, svx goes into the transmission shop.

I met with the service manager of the garage that's doing my 5 speed swap for lunch today at which time he informed me that my car has FINALLY made it into a work bay to have the swap preformed. The car sat in their outdoor lot for exactly a month before they could get to it!!

I'm betting i'll have to have all 4 rotors cut after sitting outside at this time of year for that length of time.

I just received an update from the shop. The tech has been working on the car for half of yesterday and all of today. While following the Small Car instructions, he hasn't yet run into any difficult problems. YAY.

And, why should he? A tranny can be removed and re-installed in 14 easy steps.

Wow! Granted it's not a 5-speed swap but that really makes it sound...simple.

-Johnny (could it be so easy?)

Mike,
Great news!! Looking forward to counting all the 5 speeds that show up at Reading this year!! My memory tells me that there was only one last year (SubaFreak's).

Just an update. My car is moving along nicely and should be done soon! We've run into a few problems and are now working out the intricacies of the differential ring/pinion swap.

updated pics are here:

Nice Mike!

That picture of the transmission is not the transmission you actually got. Huck got that one, yours is newer and cleaner (I know its important to you to have a clean trans! )

Do me a favor, eh? Get me some better pics of the mounts themselves.

Gracias,
Todd
