Smile A new Canadian SVX owner!

Hi, everybody! I'm glad to join the "network".

My name is Bruno and i'm a new SVX owner since march. I've bought a '92 LSi Teal SVX with 134 000 KM. Look brand new, even the leather is in mint condition! Only pay 6900$ (Canadian) for it and put 2000$ on repairs... Crank pulley, timing belt, a rear wheel bearing and a head gasket. Run great since the fixing has been done. Thanks to "Subaru de Repentigny" This dealer has a tech who know the SVX and for a car that is even more rare in Canada than in th US it's a valuable thing to have one near . I first bought that car has a winter beater because i'm not using my ' 95 Camaro during our hard canadian winter . After putting some km on it, I fall in love with the car and sold the Camaro to my father! I've always love the look of the SVX but there's not much here in Quebec. The only time i saw one, before getting mine, it was passing me by at over 200km/h on the freeway Since then I start to gather information on the model....

It perform well for a car that is 300lbs heavier than my camaro v6 3.8L! The 0-100km/h acceleration is quite the same but after the SVX take the lead and all I was seeing was the Camaro headlight in my rear view mirror hehe Like i've see somewhere in a magazine, "The SVX is one of the greatest cruiser of the galaxy"

Some pics of my SVX and the already forgotten Camaro!

Argh, you're right. Not the first time that's tripped me up. I used to live in Vermont, about ten minutes from the Canadian border. More than once I ventured into that country and confused a local by forgetting which units of measurement were the local standard.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

I don't remember where I got this information but I think that only 1000 SVX were sold in Canada.

This is why, I think, there's not too many poster from Canada...

Kelli, I'm pretty sure we got around 15,000 here and there were only 10,000 for the rest of the world. I think "Earthworm" is our "biggest" Canadian poster... but he is barely in Canada, so he is almost like a U.S. citizen.

Welcome to the nut house Bruno. I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to an SVX as a winter beater, but, OK. Glad you "fell" for the SVX and chose it over your Camaro. Now, if it was over a later '90s Camaro SS, then I'd say you were nuts... but I would still say the SVX is very cool and special... deserving much love and respect.

The insurance cost is lower for the SVX and I was tired of paying for a car that a I was just using only 5 month per year... but I agee with you, if i was having a SS and sell it for a SVX, you could call me a dumb ass master....

Bob: so, uh.. what exactly IS the conversion between metric and inches, eh?

Doug: well you see, the trick is times two, add twelve..

Bob: so fifteen miles per hour is...

Doug: let's see.. that's thirty.. plus twelve.. that's 42 kilometers per hour

Bob: beauty, eh? so um.. does this apply to other things?

Doug: you mean like donuts and beer?

Bob: yeah, so like.. a six pack of beer would be... 24... twenty four metric beers, eh..

Doug: beauty, put me down for metric.....
