Talking Cross Country Car Pick-Up

Well, next Wednesday I fly to Ohio to pick up a SVX. I will arrive Thursday morning, and head back to Washington State as soon as I pick up the car. I figure 4 days or so to get back home. The weather will make it a little more interesting than the trip last summer. It is a 93 with ~56,000 miles on the clock. By the time I get it back home, I will need to do the 60K service though. It is Barcelona Red of course, so if you see me headed West, wave!! I may stop to see a few people on my way home. Too bad it isn't yellow like Randy's bananna express, because you would be able to spot me much easier!!

Cool

Earl...This makes THREE SVXes. This is one more than you actually "need". We all need two for when one's in the tranny shop. But....THREE?!?! Isn't this HOARDING & PURE GREED? Won't this force Randy, Larry & others to play the Jones card?
I feel so.....cheap, with only ONE.

Ron.

You're still looking for a blue one, right? So when will it stop? Does anyone own more than you? You'll have to post some pics of the whole herd, you'll be an svx meet by yourself.

(congrats on the new addition)

Ron - some people keep bringing home stray cats, I bring home stray SVXes, SVXi - whatever plural of SVX is. Now you know why my caption reads what it does. I may have to get rid of my other 93 before I can get a blue one. That scares me just thinking about it. I think one or two members own 4, but I don't remember who they are.

3 SVX's!!! I can't convince Cassie to get one for herself to learn on and with the price of houses and apartments here in Sydney, I can't see us affording a 3 garage house (Camry + SVX + SVX) anytime soon!!

but congratulations nonetheless!

James

Anyone with more than one SVX is just showing off how much money they can afford to bury

Mine is like a money pit at the moment. Time was in the States, you dug a hole in the ground, and struck oil. Now, I expect it is social conscience at work. You are all buying multiple SVXs, digging holes in the ground and filling the holes up with money!!

Way to go Earl.
[You could always respray it a more reasonable colour]

Wow I knew you were getting it, but I didn't realize that this one also came from cross country! Speaks kinda badly for the northwest that all three of your hand picked SVXes had to come from at least 1000 miles away. And it's not like a weather factor, we don't have snow and salt on the roads like back there. May be that people out here drive their SVXes year round so there are less low mileage, excellent condition ones available. Also I've noticed that prices for SVXes in WA are WELL above average from what I've seen on these threads. Dealers (even the little used car ones) often ask $8000 or more for a 92 with 120,000 plus mileage. And Carter frequently will have a 95-97 with up to 60,000 miles in the $20,000+ range.

Anyway, congrats on the addition to the herd! If we ever need to up our numbers at our NW meets for bragging rights, we'll just hold them at your house!

For you to afford three, you'd have to cut Rosie's food & jewelry
allotment by 90%. Not something I see on the immediate Singer horizon.

Ron.

Congratulations Earl!!!

Nice addition to the herd. Have a safe trip back home. If I may ask, where in Ohio is the car located? I lived in Ohio for a couple of years. Just being nosey.

Todd

ps - I'm having a possible 2nd SVX looked at on Monday!!!

My grandpa and aunt and uncle live in Cleveland. Things are certainly..... different there.

Do you need a co-pilot Earl? I could get in a little holiday visit with the relatives first and then a ride home!

When I picked up my SVX in Pittsburgh, I made it home in 3 days at about 5 mph over the posted speed limit. I hope the roads are in good shape for you! Are you taking I-90 home?
