I need free Wheels and tires in Chicago

Hi, Last year after getting 18" aftermarket tires I gave away for free all four (4) great condition original wheels and new tires to a member from this forum.

I now need a set of wheels and tires to put on my svx.

I dont regret giving them away cause the member was a really nice guy that drove here from Iowa.

I need to park my car outside for a while and do not want to attract thieves so I have temporarily removed my huge wing and wheel set.

Does anyone have a set I can have or even borrow for a while ? The car will be driven 3 miles per day.

I would give a deposit.

Or, maybe I can go to the junk yard and find something that fits. Is the bolt pattern 5X114.3 ?

Any ideas anyone ?

I called a junk yard here and he said, "even if I had the bolt pattern, some wheels may not work and can screw up the calipers or something". Does anyone know if this is true ?

Thanks for any advice, donations, or help.

Check around for any Nissan 16" steel rims with tires. Should be able to find them around for really cheap since they are common on all years of maximas and altimas since 02 and possibly earlier.

Aluminum rims from a 93-97 ford probe GT will fit on just fine, and are probably available at any local junk yard for pretty cheap. Even have the same tire size stock. 225/50r16.

I just went through something similar myself-- you'll definitely want 16" wheels or they won't clear the front calipers. Just off the top of my head, any 5-lug Mazda RX-7 wheels will fit, Ford Probe GT will fit, I think most 5-lug Chrysler will fit up to 2002? Ford Mustang 5-lug. Ford Taurus will NOT fit. Other newer Mazda 5-lug. I got a set of donut spares- a couple Chrysler and about an '89 RX-7 to roll my parts car around on. They were $10 each from the pick-n-pull yard.

Re: I need free Wheels and tires in Chicago

I've put those on my car.

But I have 3 others that came off my car, but they have kind of used-up Toyo tires on them, which aren't snow rated.

The fourth of that set went to an SVX owner here on the forum, in Omaha, who had a wheel damaged when the car was shipped to him.

If you are in the area, or know someone who will be in the central Iowa area, and can find an easy fourth wheel, you're welcome to the three spares I have.

Share and share alike, I really appreciate the ones you let me have.

I can throw in a wheel that isn't pretty but it is true. I'll be in Rockford next week I believe to complete a set.
