Re: Is your H6 buttery smooth?

My SVX runs smooth as butter. My Legacy also runs smooth as butter. When I drive the 2001 Volvo Wagon V70 Cross country, there's a noticably less comfortable ride, primarily in engine vibration, when I compare to my Legacy, almost identicle cars. Inline 5 cylander vs H-4 or H-6, I think the horizontally opposed engines are one of the key aspects to the smooth ride of my Subaru's.

Smooth as butter. Can't even tell it's running at times. My two legacys are the same. At times they don't even sound like they are running.

Re: Is your H6 buttery smooth?

i forget mine is running sometimes while i'm stopped. but there are other times where it my idle bounces from 400 to 1000 and i'm not sure what is causing that or why it is only some of the time. Mine needs new plugs pretty badly and i wouldn't be surprised if the insulation on the packs is bad.

Re: Is your H6 buttery smooth?

Just drove mine to Reno and back from Orange county, and she ran great! Before I left there was a small issue, after turning the key to start the engine would briefly idle fast like a normal startup, but then immediately dip and then return to a faster idle instead of the fast idle gradually slowing to normal. After the trip it starts and cold idles fine.... I think it just got gunked up from 5 months of 2 or 3 mile short city trips. I have 138k now, and the engine seems just great to me..... love the HO six's!

Re: Is your H6 buttery smooth?

Mine runs smooth at 156k, many things have been changed except for any of the coil packs.

Re: Is your H6 buttery smooth?

Mine has 123k and is smooth and quiet. Occasionally after the car has warmed my idle will drop a tad low, but that should be easy to fix. I just finished the 4.11 swap so I am on to that next. I have about 63k miles on these plugs so I am sure they could use a change. I have all the records and as far as I can tell these are original coil packs.
