Batterry "boiling"

My battery, both on a charger and in the car is "boiling out" electrolyte out of the caps. I measured the voltage at the battry and it is 14.45 volts. I thought this was usually overcharging but the voltage seems right. As I recently bought the car, I do not know battery history but I did find a receipt for aa new alternator-less than 5000 miles.

suggestions?

thanks JD

What brand is your battery? How old? Just wondering!

Your battery may be bad or you get a defective one? Is that still under warranty? I think it may not be safe and may explode...

I got a defective battery when I bought a new one for my motorcyle. When I tried to slow charge...after a while, the battery was also boiling out the electrolyte...that battery won't last long. I got another replacement.
