A couple friends of mine have had problems with the winter blades lifting on other types of vehicles. That may be one of the problems.

Mine lift at 75mph and higher. Driver's side stays down on the way verticle but on the way down it lifts off the windshield. Not sure what brand of blades are on it. My previous SVX had the same issue and I was running "Trico" blades I believe. I need a better solution and think "Rain-X" is the way to go.

i just recently purchased my svx and was wondering about this. Rain just blows off my windshield at high speeds. I wasn't sure if it was rain-x(having never used it before) or some weird quirk of a car design. I take it that its rain x?

Maybe the nuts that hold the arm to the car are loose? Might be worth a check.

When my wiper bolts stripped on my other cars, I drilled a hole straight through the wiper arm and bolt, then inserted a pin. This kept the wiper arm in place. Make sure you use a new drill bit smaller than the bolt.

The Genuine SVX wiper blades from the dealer have a small built in 'spoiler' to keep them firmly planted on the windshield at lofty speeds. They're pricey, but well worth it if you're a lead-foot.

Maybe we can conclude a premium pair of windshield wipers work bettar on high speed?

I replaced 3 of them at the same time in summer 2003. They're BOSCH and they're still pretty good. Wiping off smooth and quiet. 3 of them cost me more than 30 bucks. They work as good as OEM. To save some money, I chose the lower-end model for the rear one since I don't drive reverse or use them all the times.

I had that problem awhile ago. Still do but I drive slower now so I don't notice it.

I think this might help, twisting the wipper arm so that the blade is angled slightly to the air flow. That may plaster it to the windshield.

I do not like rain-X on the windshield.

This is the previous thread.

My windshield wipers work well at about 70 on my Legacy, and there's definitely more air force on them then on an SVX (It's like driving a truck). Generally though, there isn't any times where I need to go 80+ in the rain.

Drove through a couple of squall lines yesterday evening on I-575 north of Atlanta and the wipers worked fine. What my car needed was ballast tanks and a periscope. It's amazing that a tropical depression can dump so much water, so far inland.

The factory wipers are the way to go. They cost a bit more, but they last forever (mine are 2 years old and still work perfectly), and they have the little bumper that is used park the wipers in summer mode.
