svx advertising

I'm doing a report on the svx for one of my classes and was wondering if anybody could point me to advertisements promoting the svx. I need pics, info and vids. Pretty much anything that was used to push the car to the consumer. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try writig to Suby Corporate Headqurters in Cherry Hill NJ or some of your local dealerships.
Also, There is a book out about the introduction and initial advertising of the SVX. I think it was called ".............. at the Moon". It is a study in what not to do when marketing a new product. Good Luck.

The book you want is called "Where the Suckers Moon" You can pick it up at your local book store. It's a fantastic read, especially if you're an Advertising/Marketing freak (like me). Here is a link to the original television spot:

http://www.subarusvx.org/file_sharing/ad.mov

There is a long explination in the book about the setup and execution of this advertisment and why it was a failure.

Here are links to some of the print ads:

There was also a VHS tape that was sent to potential SVX buyers. It basically explains the car, in overview, and has some really really cheesy 80's computer generated music in the background. If a copy of this VHS would help you get a better grade on your report, let me know, and I'll send you a copy.

Best of Luck,

Mike

I actually like the TV spot, but the print ads are terrible.

'...and the other half that's retired and lives in Miami...'

WHAT?!?! I mean, I know it's a comfy, heavy touring car. But, come on - it's not exactly a Crown Vic.

They would have been much better off buying those two page-spreads and just printing photos of the car.

I've been meaning to buy Where the Suckers Moon. It'd probably be a better read than William Gibson's latest...what a page-turner.

I think the print ads are funny!!! never saw those, and was even working at a Subaru dealership at the time.

I think maybe a big two page add with the title "Yes, it's a Subaru." would be PERFECT...

They may have to use that slogan if they indeed build that Alpha Romao looking sports car.
Is it true that car will only be offered as a automatic?????
