Welcome to the site. How many miles are on it? What are the tires like, what maintenance has been done and what problems are there? A few pictures in your locker would be a help too.

92 SVX for sale info

Miles: 145,400
I'll take some pics this weekend and let you know when they are up.
The tires are in fine shape and have 3-4 years of life left on them.
As I use the car 3 out of 5 days of the work week, I keep it running nicely, and the only recent problem I had was my positive battery terminal had acid on it that needed to be cleaned. When I bought it 5 years ago, it needed a rebuilt tranny, which I did, and I added an extra tranny cooler at that time. Then the radiator top leaked so I replaced the radiator. Otherwise, just routine stuff and I installed a new keyless entry/ doorlock. The body is about 90% perfect, and the interior is about 98% perfect. The car really has no problems, and if it did, I am not the type to let a problem go unfixed.
Are you actively looking to purchase an SVX?
I want a 4-door truck instead of a 2-door SVX, so that is why I am selling.

Beautiful car, but that's still a lot of miles, my buddies looking to possibly buy an SVX too, but that price is pretty steep for a '92

(don't worry, it's my new winter beater, gives me more money in my pocket(less gas) and I can park my car for longer periods of time giving me time to work on it and less damage to the SVX from winter driving)

so what is it worth?

so what is a fair price for 92 svx? Blue book is between $3500 and $5500, but is the blue book the bottom line? A rebuilt transmission and an added trani cooler are not part of blue book options, nor is a new radiator, both of which are problem items on these cars, that my car no longer has to deal with. I think if your friend is interested he should make a reasonable offer, but keeping in mind, that these cars are worth a lot more (in sentimental value) to the owners than what the blue book value may show. I guess you cannot put a price on some things, even though you may want to.

Reality

Well, to give you a little reality check, I bought my 96 LSi with fewer miles for $2900. A prestine 92 with low miles (60-80K) will bring maybe $4000-$4500 to to right buyer. An average 92 with your mileage sells for $1500-$2500. If the new tranny is Subaru remanufactured, it enhances the value. Any other rebuilt is just a rebuild and generally any warranty is not transferable.

Honestly I have never seen a car sell for the Blue Book retail value. Generally sell at private seller prices or slightly above tradein.

Of course sometimes you will find an uninformed buyer that will pay your price.

Price reduced on 92!!

ok, so $2700 is my new price, with not too much room for negotiation.

Good of you to offer your car for sale here, but unfornately, you'll probably take a beating. For my two cents, I'd say your original asking price of $5500 was probably a tad high, but $1500-$2500 seem excepetionally low. No doubt some are giving them away for that, but a well-tended '92 is worth more. Try selling on e-Bay or AutoTrader before unloading your car for much less than you want. At least, check-out what folks are asking there to get a sense of what's real. Nobody here will pay you top dollar.
