Where to take transmission?
Where would you recommend to take my SVX to have the transmission looked at? Dealer, National chain or local transmission shop? I am hoping it is a band problem. Please let me know what you think?

Take it to someone who specializes in AWD and is good with electronics, preferably someone who has seen this car before.

Re: Where to take transmission?
I'd take it to a dealer, or an independent subaru shop. Transmission is not totally unique to the SVX, aside from some minor differences (diff ratio, # of clutches in the clutch packs, etc..), so a Subaru dealer should be able to troubleshoot it even if they've never seen an SVX before, but you should be able to find a dealership with a master tech that's been there long enough to have worked on them

Re: Where to take transmission?
subaru dealer should have the service manuals around and that will be all they need. good luck, most people in this neck of the woods think these cars a new when they see them, including Subaru stealership
