New Missouri member here. I finally checked out this post and I'm signing in.
I bought my '92 LS-L Claret in November '04. It's in great condition, especially the engine and tranny. I just finished replacing my front and rear stabilizer bushings. The How-To section here and SubaruParts.com made the job easy.
I'm real close to getting the whole car up to 100% OEM. This great resource is just what I needed to complete the job.
Thanks - Jim

Hey this is John, love this site had a 91 SVX for almost 2 years, wouldn't have been able to do the manual conversion without it, and fix all the little problems.

I have A 94L that I bought in 98 . I love cars that are just a bit different I'll give you some examples-My first car was a 78 Ford Fiesta(am i giving away my age . My first new car was are you ready for this a 83 Renault Fuego Turbo (stop LOL ). I do have to say it was a pretty cool car for the day!.Also being one of the few kids in high school with a brand new ride .Next on the odd list would be my 86 Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo(that was a fun car).Next I got a little more normal and bought a used 86 300xz w/ t-tops.This was a very fun car so fun it got my D.L. suspended . My father was the one who got me interested Subaru's,when he boughgt the very cool of the day XT Coupe.I think is was an 87? .So after his praise of the flat boxer engine , I said I have to have one. In 92 when the Svx came out I said that's it . Just to let you know how I cherish this car I bought it with 33K miles on it and it now has just turned 49K .I do have a few mods but nothing to heavy , K&N drop in ,80watt 9006 bulbs ,drilled and slotted rotors ,18"wheels, and a new stereo system(Clarion head 2 amps 1 10"sub).My wife says it best I WILL BURY YOU IN THAT CAR !!! (fine for me ) HI All MY NAME IS PERRY in CA

New member and new SVX owner ('92 pearl), my name is Jessie.

I'm a student living in San Jose, CA (chemistry and physics major).

I discovered the SVX because my friend owned one. At first I didn't care much for it's looks, but when I drove it around the corner I thought, "damn, that car drives sweet!" The more I learned about it, the more I came to love it until I had to have one. Now my friend's SVX is ALL MINE! and I love everything about it.

Checking In

SvXit, making a rare appearance. Still own my '92 black over pearl and a '98 Audi A8 that *might* magically turn itself into an '05 Legacy GT Limited, if the dealer acts right.

Hello

I am a new member, and I have a 1995 dark green SVX with 172,681 miles on it. I am wondering how many miles I can expect to put on this engine before it dies. I bought it in 2000 and after reading through the maintenance records and receipts that he kept it looks as though the previous owner took good care of it. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. The timing belt has been changed twice. I have replaced one rotor and the three others have been re-planed, re-milled, or re-ground - I can't remember the exact term. All of the wheel bearings have been replaced, and I think that I am about to replace one for the second time. The last time that I had it inspected, it passed emissions with flying colors.
I live in Massachusetts which doesn't have very hot weather, so perhaps I have been lucky with my transmission. I notice that it 'clunks' when I put it in reverse. I am wondering if I should dash right out and have it looked at, or if this is something that is normal. Winters are hard here with salt and sand doing a lot of damage to an undercarriage. I have replaced the exhaust system and the drive shaft in the last year.
Well, if you have forgotten the original question.... :-) I am wondering how many miles I might expect this engine to last. The engine number is:021824 and the VIN is JF1CX3358SH100469. I look forward to a reply and to making new friends here.

Welcome to the site. There are members here that have over 300,000 miles on their SVX. With care and maintenance, it should go at least that far. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Hiya Martha. I too own a 1995 Polo Green LSi. Mine has about 100,000 less miles on her. As for longevity, one of the things of note about the 3.3 Boxer motor is that it is understressed, meaning she is stronger than she needs to be. As with anything, if you take care of it, it will last a long time. I would venture a guess that since you have that many miles on her, she will keep on trucking, of course I am not a psychic. You mentioned the clunk when you put her in reverse. Mine does that to, but only when she is cold. Once warm and the revs at idle lower, no clunk. My guess and backed up by some people here is that it may be a tranny mount. This is of no serious concern to me however. Have fun here, you will get a lot of help. John

It has been awhile...

Hi Everyone,

Remember me? I'm the crazy (car) nut who purchased the brand new (yet 1997 !) SVX from the dealership in Denver a couple of years ago. As anyone familiar with my "situation" may recall, the car had only 197 TOTAL miles on it when I purchased it via e-Bay.

I posted here a few times but mostly turned into a lurker. To update, my car now has 14,498 miles on it and still runs, looks, feels, smells brand new. The only thing I've done, besides regular dealer servicing, is purchase another set of cool wheels (OZ Racing - Georgeous!). Since I love the other wheels, too, I'm in the habit of switching back and forth whenever the mood strikes me.

The car continues to generate more looks, stares and comments than any other car I've ever owned. I recently took it to my place up in the Sierra Nevada mountains (about an hour north of Truckee, CA.) and it performed flawlessly as usual.

No real problems to report, knock on wood. My rotors MIGHT be showing some early signs of warping, but that's about it. I took a pretty hefty rock smack in the middle of the windshield a few days ago, but not a trace of damage.

P.S. I noticed several members' SVX pictures featuring after-market wheels. Good move, guys (and glas)! The SVX looks SOOO much better with nice wheels, as opposed to the plain jane stock wheels <---- the only thing I'm not a big fan of on the SVX.

See ya (my SVX pix are coming soon)

Jeff

I hear the only way to unwarp rotors is to go to the track and hit low 15s with a completely stock SVX. Think you can manage?
