My argument is based on profit and loss. That's what big (& small)corporations base their decisions on. As an example, Ford will NEVER (that's right, I said never) bring out a new car named Edsel.

This may seem harsh & hard line, but that's the way the real world of capitalism works.

Oh, the SVX II in that cool matt black paint and the digi-gizmo dash is amazing...do you think they will build it???? I wish that cars on the road looked like that and people were able to buy them
My sapphire blue 88 Buick reatta came stock with a touch-screen control system that handles everything in the car. Climate, radio, gauges, warning system, reminders, vehicle diagnostics (built in trouble computer too!), trip computers. It even has the ability to change all settings for two diff. drivers! The car is SO far ahead of it's time. I open my glove box by pushing a button! Every one that asks about it refuses to believe it isn't brand new... One of the reasons I bought an SVX, I like keeping people guessing.

The "SVX II" is okay, it needs some changes to the control system (larger panel), and I like nice glossy paint. If they did that I would buy it. A combo of SVX and Reatta!!! I just realized something... that would be GM + Subaru just like this started.

i wouldn't count out the possibility of Subaru rolling out an SVX-like car soon. touring GT's kinda died in the mid-90's, but they seem to be making a comeback. the 928 was killed off in 95, but Porsche is planning a new GT coupe soon (sorry about all the 928 references, but its all i've known for the last 5 years.) the Pontiac GTO should be a big seller, too. BMW and Audi keep rolling out more powerful cruisers every year. 350Z is back, and rumors of a new "Supra." the GT seems to be creeping back. hopefully, the SUV fad will die out SOON.

reborn again

Hello guys

I have to look at Larry's realistic side as he is correct..

However what do you think was going through Nagono's mind when he walked around the parking lot early thirty one morning while all of us were asleep?

There was a couple million dollars sitting there in the parking lot.
is what was there..

JUst look at how many SVX's were there and times it by the saleing price of the car... $$$$....

Just yesturday while at the tire shop. A guy asked me what the car sold for NEW.. He answered his own question and said He htought it was 30 grand.. He also went on to mention that at *THE* time, he felt that NO subaru was worth that much money.

So we all agree on one thing , the timing was wrong..

The marketing was Wrong... Or lack of.

The car itself was a great engineering feet. And last but not least . The 76 cars that showed up in layfayette 10 years after the fact, says only one thing.. The car was loved, liked and if they Fixed the problems tell me who wouldn't want another???

These are the other thoughts that go in to making decisions.

I remember the Buick that has the Climat control, radio, trip computer and Etc roled into ONE sijmple touch screen.
Nice car.. They were also not cheap.. The memo feature was intersting, Leave yourself a memo.. If one is to look at Gm's technology it's safe to say they are atleast THINKING....

Yes Subaru lost a lot of money on the car, But Due to their OWN mistakes..

Larry is also corect, that it was Worse then a slap in the face. FHI was IGNORED... WHich is dishonorment..... Price had alot to do with that and lack of marketing ..... SUrely they can see there own mistakes.
The Meet in LAfayett proves that FHI was NOT ignored.. Just not heard as loudly as Legacy or WRX or even OUTBACK..

Just my 2 cents...

Sure, we'd want another. But, let's say Subaru introduced another SVX tomorrow. Let's assume that it has the same sticker - above $30k. Let's also assume that it has comparable or better specs, quality and workmanship. Now, how many of those 76 SVX owners would buy that new SVX?

I'd wager not many. Why? Because most of us aren't really in the demographic that buys the latest and greatest GT car. We're in the demographic that buys the discarded GT car when the trend-watcher who leased it goes for the new latest and greatest.

On the other hand, every car company wants a model that their customers 'aspire' to own. Cavalier owners are supposed to move up to a Malibu someday and dream of owning a Corvette.

The WRX will (and has) put Subaru in the 'performance' category here in the US. So, I think it's likely that, eventually, they'll build another GT. Will it be our beloved SVX, only better? I'm not holding my breath.

Subaru has a lot to offer in a sports car. Power, AWD and racing know-how. If Subaru did build a SVXII the buying public would buy it if it was reasonable priced and with help from the WRX and Nissans new Z sales. Most of us get a kick out of not many people remember the car and wonder what the heck you're driving. It would be the press that would kill the car bringing up past failures the car had. Subaru could do it but should they call it SVXII and if they did would we know it was a SVXII if they didn't name it SVXII. What I mean is they could build one with all the admenities the SVX has, but could they build a SVXII without its defining signature...the glass.
